I just wanted to say hello to everyone and take a moment to remind us all that Thanksgiving is approaching shortly. Once again, I am having my annual food drive to help those less fortunate. There are many families out there that are struggling to get by. I am asking everyone to try and bring into my office some can goods or dry foods so that we can help feed some families in need, so they can have an enjoyable holiday.

As my way of giving back and saying thank you for your generosity, I am going to provide a consultation, examination and x-rays (if needed) at No Charge to anyone who donates food (Regular Value $600.00).

At this time, I want to thank you all for your help, generosity and kindness and wish you and your families a very enjoyable Thanksgiving.

This is a special alert to ALL parents with children going to school.

School has officially begun and with that comes children putting on their backpacks. My office sees a lot of children throughout the school year due to back injuries because of backpack issues. Below is some additional information pertaining to how to wear a backpack properly.

If your child starts to complain of back or shoulder pain, please bring them in for a checkup ASAP. Also bring in their backpack so I can check it out as well.

Remember that the backpack should NOT be greater than 15% of your child’s body weight. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons indicates carrying a load weighing more than 20% of a child’s body weight subjects that child to serious spinal problems.

This is just one example of how a child can get a scoliosis or aggravate an existing one.
