Your nervous system feels the shift when seasons change 🍂
As we move into fall, shorter days, cooler temps, and changing light patterns can impact how our bodies regulate stress, sleep, and mood—especially for growing babies, little ones, and mama's changing body.
Here's how to support your family's nervous system during this transition:
☀️ Morning light exposure
Get outside within 30 minutes of waking. Natural light helps regulate cortisol and melatonin, keeping your circadian rhythm steady even as daylight shifts.
🥣 Nourish with warmth
Think bone broths, root vegetables, healthy fats, and omega-3s. These support neurotransmitter function and help babies' developing nervous systems. Magnesium-rich foods (pumpkin seeds, dark leafy greens) are especially calming.
🌿 Slow down intentionally
Your body naturally wants to rest more in fall—honor that. Gentle movement like walks, prenatal yoga, or stretching activate your parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system.
👪 Keep routines consistent
Predictable meal times, bedtimes, and daily rhythms help everyone feel safe and regulated, even when everything outside is changing.
🛁 Warm baths before bed
Epsom salt baths provide magnesium absorption and the temperature drop afterward signals sleep time to your body.
Transitions can be hard sometimes. Be gentle with yourself and your little ones as your bodies adjust🤎
