🤍🦓 October 25th is POTS Awareness Day — a time to recognize the challenges faced by those living with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), one of the most common forms of dysautonomia seen in the Ehlers-Danlos and Hypermobility community.

POTS occurs when the autonomic nervous system has trouble regulating blood flow and heart rate — often leading to symptoms like:
• Lightheadedness or dizziness upon standing
• Rapid heart rate (tachycardia)
• Fatigue and exercise intolerance
• Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
• Nausea or GI discomfort
• Temperature dysregulation and shakiness

While the symptoms can be life-altering, awareness and understanding can make all the difference. Many people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) experience autonomic dysfunction, yet it often goes unrecognized for years.

At the Ehlers-Danlos & Hypermobility Clinic at Addison’s, we know how important it is to have your symptoms validated and understood. Even though we do not treat POTS directly, we believe in a whole-body approach that considers how connective tissue disorders can affect every system — and we’re here to support you with education, advocacy, and compassionate care every step of the way.
