👂 Is there a way to catch hearing loss early?

Early stages of hearing loss are very subtle, but knowing the signs will put you ahead of the game!
1️⃣ Not hearing high-pitched voices well: Straining to hear 🚸 children and some adults’ voices.
2️⃣ Misunderstanding others: High-frequency consonants like "s" and "f" become hard to hear. Those consonants allow you to tell many words apart from one another.
3️⃣ Hearing fewer high-pitched sounds: Missing 🐦 birds chirping, 🐱 kittens meowing, or doors creaking.
4️⃣ Difficulty pinpointing sounds: Confusing the source of sounds. Was that a knock at the door?
5️⃣ Trouble in noisy environments: It’s harder to hear conversations in restaurants.
6️⃣ Tinnitus or ringing in the ears: 90% of tinnitus cases also have hearing loss.

Keep an eye out for the subtle signs. Your ears (and brain) will thank you! ❤️

If your favorite gaming system is turned up too loud while wearing earbuds or headphones, you can damage 💥👂 your hearing quickly. If you’re not familiar with the 60/60 rule, don’t worry — many aren’t — but it’s a key way to guard against hearing loss and preserve your hearing now and in the future 🤖

❗The Rule:
1️⃣ Never turn the volume up past 60 percent of full volume.
2️⃣ When you’re finished, turn the device off completely for 60 minutes so your ears can have a break.

➕ Bonus Points:
1️⃣ Use headphones instead of earbuds 🎧 Earbuds pick up background noise, which leads to turning up the volume to hear better. Headphones surround the ear and keep background noise to a minimum.
2️⃣ Even better, invest in noise-canceling headphones.

🏈 Football season’s on the way, so let’s talk about head injuries like concussions. They affect millions of people every year! The impact goes beyond just a bump on the head. Many people with traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) also face hearing loss 👂 and balance issues. In fact, almost half experience dizziness, and almost a quarter have hearing problems. It’s not just athletes — everyday accidents like car crashes and falls can cause TBIs, too. Want to learn more about how bumping your noggin impacts your hearing and balance?

👂5 Reasons to Wear Your Hearing Aids

🔊 Don't let your hearing aids gather dust! Here are 5 reasons to wear them every day:
1️⃣ Hearing Loss Is a Chronic Condition: Skipping your hearing aids is like ignoring diabetes or high cholesterol. 🩺
2️⃣ Dementia Risk: Not wearing them can strain your brain and potentially lead to dementia. Wear them to stay sharp! 🧠
3️⃣ Tinnitus Relief: Most tinnitus cases are linked to hearing loss. Your hearing aids can help curb that annoying ringing. 🎶
4️⃣ Balance: Hearing loss can triple your risk of a fall. Hearing aids help you stay on your feet! 🚶
5️⃣ Depression: Hearing well improves mental health, reducing depression risk. Smile! 😊

Keep those hearing aids powered, attend follow-ups, and make them part of your routine. Your ears (and brain) will thank you! 🎧❤️
