House of Raeford Farms FLOCK AND DUPLIN SCHOOLS PARTNER TO STRENGTHEN STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH πŸŽπŸ“š
Recognizing that unmet emotional, physical, and social needs can significantly hinder a student’s ability to learn, House of Raeford Farms FLOCK partnered with Duplin County Schools in North Carolina to help address a growing mental health challenge. Since the fall of 2024, FLOCK, the nonprofit arm of House of Raeford, has contributed $160,000 to support a behavioral health initiative established by the school system nine years ago.

The mental health program integrates virtual support from East Carolina University (ECU) Tele-medicine and psychiatry Tele-health services from the University of North Carolina (UNC). In-person therapy is provided by Tar Heel Human Services, a local mental health practice.

πŸ‘‹ Say "hello" to Sarah Pearl Farrior! 😊

Sarah Pearl is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSW-A) who is passionate about helping children and adolescents grow into the best versions of themselves. She feels especially drawn to supporting young people as they navigate challenges related to anxiety, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and identity. Recognizing how overwhelming it can be to grow up in today's world, she understands how important it is to have a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they can feel seen and heard.

Because every individual is unique, Sarah Pearl tailors her therapeutic approach to meet each person's needs, using a blend of strengths-based, person-centered, and cognitive-behavioral strategies. She enjoys incorporating creative tools such as play, art, and mindfulness to help young people express themselves in ways that feel natural and safe. Ultimately, her biggest goal is to create a space where individuals can be open, feel supported, and feel empowered to build the tools they need to thrive.

Sarah Pearl has been at Tar Heel Human Services since this past August, and would love to schedule an appointment with you. (910) 298-6207

❓ Question: Do I need a referral to see a therapist?

πŸ‘ Answer: Good news! Most of the time, no referral is needed! You can usually reach out to a therapist directly. However, some insurance plans might require one, so it’s always smart to double-check with your provider first.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Here in Eastern North Carolina, we are home to several military bases, including Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, and Marine Corp Air Station Cherry Point. We proudly honor the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of all veterans who have served our country.

If you or a loved one is struggling, please know that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate, veteran-centered mental health care tailored to your unique needs. (910) 298-6207

⏸ Mental Health Tip of the Month: Practice the Pause

πŸ‘‰ In moments of stress or emotional overwhelm, take a brief pause before reacting. A few deep breaths, a short walk, or even counting to ten can help create space between a trigger and your response. This small practice can improve emotional regulation, reduce reactivity, and enhance your ability to respond with intention rather than impulse.

β˜•οΈ Remember: sometimes the most powerful tool is a moment of stillness.

Move Your Body, Boost Your Mood!! πŸ’ƒπŸ‘ŸπŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Even just 10–15 minutes of physical activity a day can make a big difference for your mental health.

Whether it’s a brisk walk, stretching, dancing, or a quick workout, movement helps release endorphins, reduce stress, and improve focus. You don’t need a gym, just get your body moving in a way that feels good to you. Small, consistent activity can lead to a clearer mind and a better mood.
