Lip lifts are by far one of our favorite in-office or add-on procedures. As we age, the philtrum area extends and is one of the first places we show signs of aging on our faces. Prior to your procedure, I carefully measure the area to ensure my patients get the look they want. During this procedure, the incision is hidden in the nasal sill, and the sutures are taken out roughly seven days post-op. When done well, this procedure provides drastic results subtly. When measuring philtrums, a surgeon can opt to go down to 11-12 mm for a stylized look with a statement or 13mm for a more elegant and natural result. My approach is typically to err on the side of elegance and natural, but of course, this is a collaborative experience.

Some other items to take into consideration are things like upcoming weddings, graduations, and important life events in which you want to look your best. The biggest takeaway from Jackée’s consultation was, “I want to look like me”. Like many of our patients, we discussed her desire to keep her expressive and animated face while maintaining her natural beauty. She didn’t want to look like anyone but herself, and that’s something we strive for. Now, she is nearly three and a half months post-op with about three more months of healing ahead of her.
