Where do I begin?
So much emotion and passion in the air right now as tensions build up and boil over. Racism is such a crass and weak way to determine someone’s value, character, personality, ambition, mannerisms etc.
To hate someone because of something that they cannot control and hold it against them as if it were...what weakness. I feel sorry for people who use racism to feel better about themselves. How sad is that? No wonder they are so angry, they don’t even like themselves enough to feel good about themselves.
As I read the news, I am so amazed by the love and support of other countries who are empathizing with us, who are even holding George Floyd gatherings in London, Toronto, Berlin, even Iran! For all the things that we have done, withdrawing from agreements and supporting our European allies, they still show love and support. How incredible!
Is this who we are? Are we supposed to be so angry, blame each other, hate each other? The United States is such a unique treasure of a country. We invite the world’s best to come here so that we can be the best country. We have beautiful scenes of nature free to enjoy! We have resources, richness, intelligence, that is overshadowed by so much hate.
People are right to be upset. 4 police officers, on video, with witnesses, participating in excessive force (at the very least), killing an unarmed African American man in front of a crowd in daylight. The first action was to fire these officers? It took an entire day to think about arresting one, almost a week to arrest the other 3?
COVID is just an accelerator of what is to come. We are realizing that life is short, changes need to occur NOW. Let’s make racism UGLY, UNACCEPTABLE, and TABOO. In our office, we don’t look at races and we have all types of ethnicities showing love for one another.
Let all start with learning how to love ourselves, accepting our own limitations, reveling in our own strengths so we can do the same for others.
