Have you had your breast implants for over 10 years? It might be time to check in.

This past month, I removed several ruptured silicone implants—some over 20 years old. The patients had no idea their implants needed monitoring or replacement. Silicone leaks often have no obvious symptoms, which is why regular imaging is so important.

Here’s what I recommend:
• Get imaging 3 years after surgery, then every 2 years
• Replace silicone implants every 8–10 years
• Replace saline implants around 15 years if no issues
• Watch for signs like hardening, asymmetry, or swelling

Taking care of your implants now can help you avoid complex surgeries later. If it’s been a while, let’s talk. Your peace of mind is worth it.
