Back by popular demand . . . The Filler Killer!!

Serious complications of filler are fortunately quite rare. Carissa’s were not serious but she had several at once. I was able to reverse them all within hours using the Filler Killer.

Each week I dissolve filler on several patients who have upcoming procedures like MIST™️ with or without fat transfer or a Scarless Lift™️. Carissa had under eye filler for a year and noticed blurry vision in her left eye right away which remained the same all year. She also noticed the tip of her nose turning blue the next day after filler was placed. In addition, when she got Covid her face swelled up dramatically. All rare complications fortunately. But with precise ultrasound guidance we were able to restore her back to normal on all counts.

I miss her badly but know she is watching over me and so many others that she loved, and loved her back. Happy Mother’s Day to her and to all the moms out there who made us - and made us who we are.

It was great to join .rohrich (here with my friend and Face Forward founder .alessi) at the fundraising event in Dallas. Dr.Rohrich and his wonderful staff and fellows have been kind to help out with patients who are victims of domestic abuse and human trafficking. Several of the patients I’ve operated on this year alone live in the Dallas area so the LA-Dallas connection is a great one to have.

No one has done more for our specialty academically than Dr. Rohrich over the past several decades. He’s trained and educated innumerable other surgeons, and hosts and speaks at the best conferences worldwide on a regular basis. We are lucky to have him and his incredible wealth of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery experience to help out with these deserving and inspiring patients!

Watch the whole video to see closeups of where her incisions are and how they’re already virtually invisible at 5 months. Notice also how natural her facial expressions are, and yet how much lift and fullness she has in her face. As the actual sandwich showed in the video I just posted, this is the hallmark of the deep-plane TCF lift™️, where the skin and muscle are lifted together so expression remains the same, and fullness and smoothness are optimized.

Why a Deep-Plane Facelift is the Best Facelift

In this video I employ an actual sandwich to illustrate the clear advantages of the deep-plane technique over other facelifts.

Social media users with a keen eye have noticed something about deep-plane facelift results - they’re better. The procedure reverses aging using the natural tissue plane in which it occurred in the first place, re-volumizing the face like no other procedure can do.

Now, facelift surgery is as much of an art form as any aesthetic procedure and the skill and eye of the surgeon matter hugely. But I think you’ll see from the video why, in the right hands, the deep-plane technique easily wins out.

I switched from an “extended SMAS” facelift to a deep-plane (or “composite”) technique over ten years ago, and in 2016 the Aesthetic Surgery Journal published the study I did to determine which technique worked better based on objective measurements of improvement (link in bio).

(I normally avoid bread, but at the end of the day I did eat the sandwich.)

This is Amanda four months out from her . Her cheeks and lower face have been rejuvenated in a way that no other procedure can. The muscle (SMAS) layer of the face and neck is fully released in the deep plane, allowing me to lift her facial tissues back where they were before gravity dragged them down without thinning of the tissues or signs of surgery. The incisions are all hidden in the hair except for one that courses within the natural anatomic contours of the ear and is essentially invisible.
