Dr. Shamouelian completed a comprehensive 5-year surgical residency in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of California, Irvine. During residency Dr. Shamouelian presented numerous innovative research studies and was awarded with the Resident Research Award as a Chief Resident. Dr. Shamouelian subsequently completed a highly sought after and specialized fellowship in New York City at the famed Lenox Hill Hospital and renowned Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. His training involved cutting edge, innovative techniques alongside the foundational aesthetic and reconstructive techniques of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He has specialized training in the treatment of vascular birthmarks including hemangiomas, portwine stains, venous malformations, and lymphatic malformations. Dr. Shamouelian also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UC, Irvine, instilling the nuances of surgery and patient care among surgeons in-training. He has authored research publications and textbook chapters utilized by specialists throughout the nation. He also serves as Director of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center with a special interest in plastic surgery for patients with facial nerve paralysis.
