Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers, and Father figures ❤️ As many of you know, I had my son on my own, so a big fear of mine is failing him by not having a partner (for now at least), but thankfully he has amazing father figures in my dad and brother who show up for him nonstop. Also this post from really resonated 😭 so I wanted to share. ❤️

I was going to make a post about my sweet love, about the special moment of giving him his first haircut last week…but it’s hard to not comment on what’s happening around us. I’m a child of immigrants. I’m brown. I was born in the United States, and I’m an American citizen. Patients ask if I have travel plans this summer, and I say no. I’m staying put. I’m scared to travel out of the US as a brown American, not for fear of how I’ll be treated at my destination country, but fear of how I may be treated re-entering my own- the “United” States. One thing I love about California is the diversity, and while there are definitely exceptions, I love the overall sense of acceptance here for those who don’t look like you or love like you or pray like you. I read this post from Mark Ruffalo, and I’m sharing since I couldn’t say it better myself.
