Unmasking is messy, honest, and brave. What are you discovering beneath the mask? 🎭

It can feel disorienting to realize just how long you’ve been masking. How many parts of you learned to perform, people-please, stay quiet, or stay small to feel safe.

Sometimes we mistake these survival strategies for who we are.
What lies beneath?

There’s truth. Grief. Anger. Freedom. You.

What else have you found? ♥️

Mental health struggles can look like distance, silence, or forgetting to reply. It’s not because they don’t love you or care about you.

Trauma, anxiety, and challenges with executive functioning can create barriers to things that seem simple—like responding to a text. It’s not intentional.

If you relate to this, share it with someone who might need to hear it. ♥️

⚠️ Meet Lulu Danger ⚠️ – January 2025 guest speaker (late post, but so worth it!)

Our January speaker was the phenomenal Lulu Danger—a brilliant clinician, fierce advocate, and most importantly, a dear friend. 💜✨

Lulu’s work is rooted in cultural humility and affirming care, creating spaces where q***r, trans, and gender non-conforming individuals can explore identity without fear of judgment. 🌈 She shared her wisdom on providing affirming care for LGBTQIA+ folx while also offering a beautiful introduction to working with dissociative disorders.

Our group loved sharing space with Lulu, and we’re still reflecting on the depth and richness of her insights. What made this gathering even more profound was that it took place just as the LA wildfires began. 🔥

Despite the uncertainty and collective distress, we came together in community, (tried to) ground ourselves in learning, connection, and care. ❤️‍🩹

A powerful reminder that healing happens in spaces of safety, trust, and authenticity—even in the midst of chaos. And Lulu embodies that fully. 🖤

Grateful for you, ! 🥰

💔 Trauma and Heartbreak 💔

Heartbreak is a full-body experience.

Grief isn’t just emotional—it lives in the nervous system, in the body, in the parts of you that longed for a different outcome. It aches, it lingers, it rewrites the future you thought you were stepping into. And when you’re in it, it can feel like it will never end.

But here’s what’s also true: Nervous systems can heal. Parts can be witnessed. The pain won’t last forever, even if it feels like it will.

Grief is a sign of deep love, and that love doesn’t disappear—it changes form. It can be held, honored, and carried forward in a new way. 🥀

Take care of your heart. Take care of your nervous system. And if you’re in the thick of it, know that you’re not alone. ♥️

Maybe it’s the change of seasons, maybe it’s the collective energy... hint: you can always tell what’s on my soul by what I’m posting. 😔

🛡️ Common Manager Parts: Part Two 🛡️
In burdened systems, Manager Parts work overtime to keep us safe and in control—often stepping into roles like helpers, strivers, and intellectuals. These roles aim to protect us from pain or overwhelm, but their methods can sometimes feel rigid or exhausting.

Here are four more you might recognize:
📚 Intellectual: Prefers thinking over feeling, avoiding vulnerability with facts and logic.
🏆 Striver: Pushes us to achieve more to feel worthy or avoid failure.
🤝 Rescuer: Steps in to “fix” others’ struggles to avoid emotional discomfort.
🛠️ Fixer: Assumes responsibility for everyone’s problems to keep the peace.

These parts want the best for us, even if their strategies feel overwhelming at times. Learning to understand their intentions can help us build more balance and compassion in our internal system. 🌿

Curious what these Manager Parts might sound like day-to-day? Check the post for examples and reflect on how they show up in your life. 💡

🛡️ Common Manager Parts 🛡️
Manager Parts work tirelessly to keep us safe and in control, stepping into roles like planners, organizers, and even critics. In burdened systems, they may take on rigid or overwhelming behaviors to shield us from pain or vulnerability.

Here are a few you might recognize:
📣 Blaming Critic: Uses harsh words to keep us “in line” or prevent mistakes.
⚖️ Shaming Judge: Points out flaws to avoid rejection or shame.
🎯 Perfectionist: Pushes us to overachieve to avoid judgment or failure.
💡 Logical Rationalist: Tries to solve emotional pain with reason or analysis.

Remember, you’re not defective—just protective. 🌿 (Thank you, Linda Thai, for this gentle reminder.) These parts have good intentions, but their strategies can sometimes feel exhausting.

🔮 Meet Maggie Pajak 🔮

Our group had the pleasure of sharing space with the wondrous Maggie Pajak this month—perfect for spooky season! 👻 Maggie is truly one of the coolest cats I’ve had the honor of knowing this past year. 🐈‍⬛

As a certified IFS provider and a therapist specializing in transpersonal experiences, Maggie delivered a beautiful overview of IFS/Parts Work, along with an experiential session that left us in awe! Their work also bridges the gap between psychotherapy and spirituality—guiding others through inner healing while embracing their spiritual identities.

To learn more about Maggie and their magical collective of spiritual providers, check out their website: https://www.thewitchstherapist.com/. This phenomenal human has so much to offer, I may need to take a trip to Canada! 🇨🇦

🌟 Meet Carrie Wiita 🌟

Our group had the pleasure of sharing space with the fabulous Carrie Wiita this month. 🙌 Carrie brings so much energy and passion to her craft, and we learned so much about where therapy, marketing, and interpersonal branding come together!

What sets Carrie apart is that she helps you figure out who you are—truly the foundation needed for any brand or marketing. Spoiler alert: they don’t teach you this in grad school!

Carrie wrote her master’s thesis on the intersection of marketing and psychotherapy, a powerful combination that led her to create Interpersonal Branding—the first marketing framework specifically for service providers. 🎙️✨ Her background as a consultant, author, speaker, podcaster, and former professional actor gives her a unique edge in guiding others.

If you’re a service provider in any field or want to understand what really works in today’s social media/marketing landscape, connect with Carrie by visiting her website interpersonalbranding.com or finding her on Facebook! 🌐

Special thanks to .lcsw for the amazing design! 💫
