Should medication management come from our personal trainers?
I work out with personal training 2 times a week in addition to running and yoga. I LOVE my trainer.
But would I have him manage my HRT??
Quite shocked (and appalled) to see trainers in my community giving advice on dosing GLP1s.
Ask me anything happening tomorrow.
With me
Triple MD and now mindbody certified too šŸŽ‰

Today as we wake up to the horrific news of the terror attack on our brothers and sisters in Australia and on the first night of Hannukah I received this video of my husband who is on a medical mission in Guatamala with our eldest daughter.
I am so proud of them for spreading our Jewish value of Tikkun Olam - healing the world thru service.
I am so proud of my children for being strong leaders in the Jewish community.
And I am proud of being a Jew.
We will not shrink to the intimidation of cowards.
We will continue to be the light as our religion has instructed us - repairing the world thru acts of kindness, love and service.
I love you . May g-d watch after you as you do this meaningful work.
May our community heal from the hateful events of the past 2 years.
May we continue to spread light amidst the darkness.
Happy Hannukah to all who celebrate and may we see better days āœ”ļøšŸ’™šŸ•ŽšŸ¤ Amen.

Do GLP1’s cause su***de?
Recent warnings revive mental health concerns with GLP1’s.
A good reminder for users and prescribers to be mindful this potential.
But here is something to consider-somewhere along the way, many of us started believing that weight loss would fix everything: our stress, our self-doubt, our relationships, our sense of worth…
GLP-1s can change your appetite, but they can’t answer your deeper hunger.
So the real question becomes:
What are you hungry for?
Validation, self acceptance, possibility?
I encourage you to sit with this question because our hunger is an invitation to understand and meet that very human need.

Big news on the WHO announcement for the use of GLP1s for the treatment of obesity. First of all- obesity is a chronic disease marked by changes in hormones and physiology.
2. These drugs are intended for LONGTERM use. Many people want to use it as a short term ā€œdiet. Listen in to why that’s a bad call.
3. These drugs should be used in conjunction with a healthy (high protein high fiber diet) this goes without saying but many people will lose weight regardless but that too backfires in the long run (I’ve seen it happen many times in my medical practice and perhaps more on that in another video)
But all in all yay šŸŽ‰!!!
This obesity medicine specialist is happy! 🄳

Grateful for enduring love, for blue skies, for the privilege of doctoring, for the joy of older children and even for the white hairs and the laxity of skin that reminds me of the blessings of age.
Wishing you all a joyful, peaceful and meaningful day with your loved ones.

I have often said running is like Prozac, Adderral and Xanax all rolled into one. I start out with a mind full of worries and end with lessons. Today three stood out most.

1. This weeks events reminded me that life is precious my friends. I know you know. But try hard today to live like you know.

2. I was reminded of a lesson I learned while breastfeeding as a resident. Your capacity is directly proportional to the challenges that lay before you.

3. Life is hard, beautiful and absurd. Don’t take yourself too seriously.

Here’s me today at mile 5. I look pretty good right?? Yeah well you should have seen me 6.2 miles later šŸ˜›

Next stop 13.1 šŸ™Œ

Ok so l lied. Last week when I thought I ran 8 miles it was really only 7 which meant that I couldn’t run 10 miles this week so I ended up running 9 šŸƒšŸ»ā€ā™€ļøand this is what I learned. One lesson for every mile.
1. What you think you can do is really just a matter of what you think.
2. If at mile 5 you’re sure you’re going to die, somewhere around 6.5 you’ll catch a burst of energy that makes you believe you could run 20—only to feel near death again a quarter mile later.
3. Weight training really does increase stamina. To my midlifers out there, if you haven’t started lifting yet- here is your reminder to start.
3.Cars will never look before turning into traffic. Assume they won’t, or you’ll get run over.
4. No one tells you how humbling it is to be passed by a stroller.
5. Chafing is the universe’s way of keeping you humble.
6. You will bargain with yourself at every mile. Eventually just the next block magically becomes just finish the damn thing. šŸ˜“
7. Running is basically couple’s therapy between you and your voices in your head. If you run long enough you make peace with each other.
8. Every run is a full emotional arc — denial, bargaining, surrender, and finally… grace.šŸ˜”
9. A one from last week… you can do hard things!

Next up 11 miles then the half 12/29/25!

Wahoo!!!
Thousands of us dedicated to are gathered at the annual conference in Atlanta excited to hear the news of price drops for these drugsšŸŽ‰
These drugs appear to have tremendous benefits for
šŸ§˜šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøweight loss
šŸøalcohol use disorder
🚬addiction
🧠dementia risk
šŸ«€cardiovascular diseases including heart attack and stroke
ā˜„ļø reduced inflammation
But also can have adverse effects including data presented at today showing that interruptions and discontinuations have consequences including increases in inflammation and CVD risk.
Here’s my advice-
Be informed
Find a knowledgeable physician.
I wouldn’t give you Botox, breast implants or chemo-
You should not get prescribed by your dermatologist, dentist or butcher.
Unless they are trained in obesity medicine šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Emotional eating is just a form of reactivity- like lashing out, compulsive drinking, shopping, working…
It comes from an underlying emotion that is driving the show. Here’s a practice
Step 1: pause before reacting
Step 2: ask yourself what is the underlying emotion- be as specific as you can. Just labeling will lessen reactivity in the amygdala
Step 3: offer yourself a self soothing practice. Hand on heart is my personal favorite.
Step 4: Feel where that emotion is in your body. Take a few breathes. Remind yourself that even if the emotion is difficult you can tolerate it. All the while breathing, offerring yourself soothing touch and words of reassurance. Remind yourself hard as it may be you can tolerate difficult emotions.
Step 4: Notice that desire to react might ease.
Remember this is a practice. You may still snap at your child or grab that Halloween candy but chances are with practice you will become less reactive and more intentional.

It’s on baby šŸ”„
A few weeks ago my eldest asked my to join her in a half marathon - to which I answered ummm, no thanks.
It’s been almost 13 years since I ran my last race and I hadn’t run for months.
But then I ran 6.5 miles with her and it felt pretty good. Today I ran 8 and some change.
So here goes!
I have 27 days to get to 13.1 šŸƒšŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
Thanks to for reminding me I can do hard things šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ and to you for keeping me accountable.
convinced me to buy the cancel insurance. Let’s make sure I don’t use it šŸ™ŒšŸ¼
