"The brain is really a wet, sloppy drum machine," "It's desperately seeking rhythms.(...) "Sound gets into our brains and processed so quickly that it shapes all other perceptions", says neuroscientist Seth Horowitz, Ph.D. "You hear anywhere from 20 to 100 times faster than you see."
Listening to NPR on the way to work this morning, I became intrigued with a story. Listening closely, I heard a familiar voice, and it was Dr. Seth Horowitz a colleague of mine from the hearing laboratory and Brown University many years ago. From researching in Providence, RI to living in New York at the inception of his company Neuropop where he was holding sound and light concerts that would manipulate how your brain would function (in a good way) to his fascinating book... it's incredible where sound, engineering, evolution and life can lead you!
