Thinking about getting your Massachusetts fi****ms license? March might be your best opportunity.

On April 2, new state regulations take effect — moving the licensing course from a single day to a multi-day format and bumping up the cost. Register before then, and you get the easier path: a one-day class, the current price, and a full 6-year license under the existing rules.

Charli is on her way to Safety Academy USA to check out all the new friends who signed up for today’s fi****ms safety class with chief instructor, Mike Pelonzi (okay, that's also her dad). She’s taking a quick snooze in the car first so she’s refreshed and ready to pay attention to everything about fi****ms safety.

If Charli could, she’d absolutely get her License to Carry in Massachusetts right now—especially since it’s currently just a one-day course and only $150! Regulations change in April!

Unfortunately, due to the "I just have paws" situation, she’s not exactly equipped to manage a firearm. Her heart is in it though.

The good news? You can still take the class while it’s a one-day course at the current rate. Upcoming state regulation changes will soon make the process longer and more expensive, so now is the time to get it done.

Last Chance Fi****ms Certification Event – March 22

Join Safety Academy USA for a special Last Chance Fi****ms Certification Class on March 22, 2026 at 10 AM at Kowloon Restaurant (Comedy Connection).

This event includes the Basic Fi****ms Safety Class LTC 007, which fulfills the current Massachusetts requirement for obtaining your Resident or Non-Resident License to Carry. This is one of the final opportunities to complete the current 4½-hour class before the new training requirements take effect on April 2, 2026. Attendees will also receive the Utah Multi-State Certification Class.

Participants will enjoy a complimentary Kowloon buffet (please be mindful of food allergies), plus special appearances including Grace Curley. Howie Carr will be calling in, and there may be a few surprise guests as well.

Restaurant Owners & Managers — Are You Compliant?

Our Choke Recognition & Response Training for Restaurant Employees is a two-hour, hands-on course designed specifically for food service staff. Participants learn how to quickly recognize a choking emergency and respond effectively using Abdominal Thrusts (commonly known as the Heimlich Maneuver), with practical training on manikins to build real confidence.

This training supports compliance with 105 CMR 590.009 – Special Requirements, which states that any food service establishment with a seating capacity of 25 or more must have a trained employee on site while food is being served. The Department-approved procedure under 105 CMR 605.003 – Approved Manual Procedures includes the Heimlich Maneuver and the sequence of obstructed airway maneuvers.

Upon completion of practical skills, participants receive a Certificate of Attendance, which may be required for compliance with Massachusetts law.
