Help Two Teens Raise Money for MMFC

SUPPORT LIFE CHANGING MEDICAL PROCEDURES FOR CHILDREN

Alexia and Ava have been volunteers for MMFC for a few years. The two teens began their volunteer experience in the MMFC office, helping to pack medical supplies for the missions, volunteering at fundraising events and collecting stuffed animals to give to the children.

In June 2023, they had an opportunity to join the MMFC mission to Guatemala. Based on their experience in June 2024 and a subsequent visit in January 2024, the teens decided that if they could raise money for medical equipment for the hospital in Guatemala – then they could help hundreds, if not thousands of children for many years to come.

These young women have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to buy medical equipment. Please read about their experiences, then DONATE!

Medical Missions For Children

At its inception, the founders of Medical Missions for Children (MMFC) went to one country and helped a handful of children. Today, 24 years later, MMFC is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization which conducts dozens of missions a year and has operated on over 30,000 children. Last year alone, MMFC launched 15 surgical and dental missions. However, the overall need is staggering with an estimated 170,000 children born with cleft lip and palate deformities each year and a backlog of more than one million children and adults awaiting this surgery worldwide.

Congenital facial deformities severely affect quality of life; yet require a simple surgery to fix. MMFC is able to directly reach children who do not have access to high-quality healthcare and could not afford it even if they did. We primarily focus on reaching children at a young age to optimize their chances of having a “normal” childhood. MMFC has developed expertise which we bring to harder-to-reach areas that possess little existing healthcare infrastructure. By addressing this issue with the most cutting edge solutions, we are not only helping these children through surgery, but also transferring knowledge and skills to the areas we serve. At the end of the day, it is through the generosity of our donors and volunteers that we are able to continue to bring smiles to the faces of young children around the world.
