The Young Professionals Network (YPN) had a strong presence at the HVS2025 Meeting held recently in Cairo.

We celebrated the first cohort of YPN travel awardees!

The interactive 'Meet the Mentor' sessions were a highlight of the HVS2025 programme.

We also hosted two key events: a social gathering for YPN networking and a Breakfast Employment & Networking Session

Stay connected for the rest of the year through our New LinkedIn Group and the Slack Channel: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/13204103/

Watch this space if you want to get involved in the organization of the HVS YPN. We also have a lot of exciting virtual things planned for 2025!

Cheers, Young HVS Board 2024-2025

Have you ever wondered about the origin of the chordae tendineae in the mitral valve? Observational research published by Young HVS member Meghan Martin from the Tissue Mechanics Group at Dalhousie University has provided some insights! Similar to how the fenestrae form in the elastic fiber layer of the aorta, it appears that perforations formed at the chordae attachment site may act to split a single attachment into two. Understanding chordae formation brings us a step closer to harnessing these mechanisms to induce positive adaptation of valve structures in disease states.
