The Girdler House

The Girdler House is a retirement home located in Beverly, MA. We are a small facility for aging women. The Girdler House is a non-profit home for elder women.

We offer a small community setting with 24 hour supervision. Beautiful ocean views, friendly staff and a welcoming environment really sets us apart as an elder care facility. We offer amenities such as medication reminders, activities, home cooked meals, housekeeping and laundry services. All bedrooms are private and we offer both shared and private baths at varying rates. Our staff is very supportive while allowing each resident to maintain her own personal level of independence in a safe and caring environment. One of the wonderful meals we've served at Girdler House in recent weeks by our weekend cook Steven. He served up some stuffed shrimp with mashed sweet potatoes and a carrot and summer squash medley.

We'd like to welcome our new weekend cook, Christopher, by featuring his first lunch with us. He served the ladies fresh roasted turkey with gravy and cranberry sauce with a side of mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. He did a fantastic job and we look forward to seeing what he does with the weekend menu going forward!

Today for lunch we had herb roasted chicken, garlicky green beans, cranberry sauce, and mashed sweet potatoes. We had a rustic apple lingonberry pie for dessert!

Today's lunch was pork tenderloin in an apple pan sauce with broccoli, mashed sweet potatoes and a warm roll.

Dessert was a pumpkin cake roll

Our new weekend cook did a wonderful job!

Our new weekend cook, Keli, has been doing a wonderful job training! Today for lunch the ladies enjoyed rosemary sage grilled chicken legs, cranberry sauce, grilled herb potatoes and green beans.

For dessert we served a brookie (that's a brownie with a chocolate chip cookie on top) with some chocolate ice cream and whipped cream.

Today for lunch we served pot roast with gravy alongside stewed carrots, onions and celery, and chive mashed potatoes.

For dessert we had a beautiful and tasty strawberry mousse cake!

Today for lunch we had some butternut squash ravioli with sauteed shrimp and steamed broccoli.

And for dessert we had a tasty carrot cake from Coffeetime Bakeshop courtesy of one of our board members!

Today for lunch we did some grilled salmon, chicken, sweet potatoes and spinach! (Spinach was wrapped in foil to stay warm without burning.) Our potatoes could've been diced a little more evenly for cooking, but overall the ladies loved it!

We served lemon meringue pie for dessert, but I didn't get to snap a picture of that.

Lunch today was a deconstructed chicken taco salad with rice and beans, like wedges, and tortilla chips. The middle cup had pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream in it.

But today, the star of the show was our dessert! A berry and cream trifle made by our board member, Robin! The ladies absolutely loved it and we all thank you and all of the board members for helping the kitchen staff out during the renovation!

Today for lunch we had sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and grilled vegetables.

One of our board members, Mercene, brought us some delicious brownies, which I didn't get a chance to get a picture of. But the ladies loved them!
