Congratulations to Dr. Momeni and his team at Stanford on their recent PRS journal publication: “Venous Thromboembolism Chemoprophylaxis in Plastic Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Trial of Apixaban versus Enoxaparin.”

This week we are absolutely delighted to feature Dr. Gregory Borschel, Chief of Plastic Surgery at Riley Hospital for Children in Indiana. In 2022, Dr. Borschel chaired the PSRC’s 67th Annual Meeting in Toronto, Canada!

Did you know that Nobel Prize winner Dr. Joe Murray was one of the 16 founding members of the Plastic Surgery Research Council? In 1955, he delivered one of his first talks at the first meeting of the PSRC at Johns Hopkins Hospital on kidney homotransplantation. On December 23, 1954, he successfully performed the first kidney transplant in the world on identical twins (the Herrick twins) at the Brigham. In 1990, Dr. Murray was awarded the Nobel Prize for this discovery. His initial inspiration? He just thought it seemed more FUN to do kidney transplants than just skin transplants.
