Our new name reflects our commitment to expanding access to exceptional vision care. Appalachian Vision has been providing eye care since the 1920's. We love this area and call it our home. Our mission

Did You Know Rosacea Can Affect Your Eyes Too?

A skin condition like rosacea does not always stop at the skin. It can also affect the eyelids and ocular surface, contributing to eyelid inflammation, meibomian gland dysfunction, dry eye symptoms, and recurrent styes/chalazia. In more severe untreated cases, ocular rosacea can even affect the cornea and vision. Persistent facial redness and irritated, watery, burning eyes may be more connected than you think. For some patients, rosacea and meibomian gland dysfunction can affect both the skin and the eyes. IPL is widely used for rosacea-related redness and visible vessels, and it is also being used in eye care to help certain patients with dry eye linked to meibomian gland dysfunction. The same IPL technology used to calm facial redness can also help treat certain dry eye problems.

IPL may help address:
Facial redness • visible vessels • burning eyes • gritty eyes • watery eyes • irritated lids • fluctuating vision • recurrent styes/chalazia. Rosacea and meibomian gland dysfunction are both associated with these kinds of symptoms.
Cosmetic bonus: IPL is also used to reduce flushing, visible blood vessels, and uneven-looking skin texture/photoaging-related changes.

We've enjoyed seeing everyone celebrate their awards from Wise County's Best of the Best over the past week. Unfortunately, discontinued our category last year after being honored as Best Eye Doctor several years in a row.

We hoped our category would return this year, but honestly, we don't need a contest to define us. Our patients tell that story every single day.
