🌟 Cinnamon: The Spice of Health! 🌟

Hey everyone! 🌿 I wanted to share some fascinating insights about one of my favorite spices: cinnamon! Not only does it add a delightful flavor to our food, but it also comes with a range of health benefits. Here are just a few:

✨ **Antioxidant Power**: Cinnamon is packed with antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and inflammation in the body.

πŸ’š **Blood Sugar Regulation**: Studies suggest that cinnamon may help lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity, making it a great addition for those managing diabetes.

❀️ **Heart Health**: Some research indicates that cinnamon may reduce cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart disease.

🦠 **Antimicrobial Properties**: Cinnamon has natural antimicrobial properties, which can help fight off bacteria and fungi.

However, it's crucial to use cinnamon cautiously! 🚨 While it has many benefits, it can interact with certain medications, especially anticoagulants like warfarin, potentially increasing the risk of bleeding. If you're on medication, especially for diabetes or blood pressure, make sure to consult with your healthcare provider before adding a significant amount of cinnamon to your diet.

Incorporate this spice wisely and enjoy the benefits, but always prioritize safety! 🧑

At Concierge Cardiology of MT, we can screen your risk for sudden cardiac death. EKG is included with the consult and sports physical. Dr. Hua will go over the results with you during the visit.

For 18 years – since she was a senior in high school – Terrianne Zonca dealt with fainting spells a few times a year. Doctors never found out why. As she went from an active teenager to a professional dancer, the theory was that she exhausted herself. The fact she often forgot to eat breakfast or drink enough water supported the theory.

Then her heart stopped at her grandfather's funeral. That forced doctors to take a closer look. While Terrianne was still in an induced coma recovering from the cardiac arrest, they discovered that she had a rare condition called long QT syndrome, a disorder of the heart's electrical system that can cause irregular and potentially fatal heartbeats.

To keep her heart safe, doctors implanted an implantable cardioverter defibrillator in her chest that monitors for any abnormal rhythms and can shock her heart back into a normal rhythm.

Since her cardiac arrest, Terrianne has become an advocate for the American Heart Association and is a regular at Heart Walks, sharing her story with others and the importance of CPR.

"Had my cousins not stepped in the split second they did, doctors said I would not have made it," she said. "They saved my family from having to figure out another funeral."
