Are you taking Gabapentin? Please read:

Due to recent changes in Montana state law, Gabapentin is now classified as a Schedule 5 controlled substance, effective statewide October 1st, 2025.

As a result of this classification, new rules and regulations must be followed by patients, providers, and pharmacies, which include:

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ ๐—ก๐—ผ ๐—˜๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—น๐—น๐˜€ ๐—ช๐—ถ๐˜๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜ ๐—”๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜‡๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป: Refills will be held to their exact โ€œdue dateโ€ based on the day supply and pickup date of the previous fill, unless documented prescriber approval is provided.

โณ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—˜๐˜…๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐Ÿฒ ๐— ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜๐—ต๐˜€: Gabapentin prescriptions will expire 6 months after the written date. Any unused refills or quantity will be voided, and a new prescription will need to be issued by the prescriber.

โ†”๏ธ ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€: Like all other schedule 3 โ€“ 5 prescriptions, gabapentin prescriptions may be transferred only once, after 1 initial fill from the original pharmacy.
