Highlighting Native relatives who are walking the Red Road in the good way β€” living with purpose, culture, humility, healing, and accountability every day. These stories matter because they show our people that recovery is possible, culture is medicine, and we do recover.

Josiah walks the Red Road not for recognition, but because he understands struggle, healing, and hope firsthand. His purpose is simple: to help his people, uplift those still hurting, and remind others that recovery, culture, and living in a good way are possible. Through service, encouragement, and leading with compassion, he works to give back what was freely given to him.

We honor the strength, resilience, and commitment it takes to continue walking in a good way. Thank you, Josiah, for showing up for the people and helping light the path for others.

Today we begin highlighting Native relatives who are walking the Red Road in the good way β€” living with purpose, culture, humility, healing, and accountability every day. These stories matter because they show our people that recovery is possible, culture is medicine, and we do recover.

Our first highlight is Oly Hugs, who has been walking the Red Road for 19 years. That represents 19 years of choosing healing, growth, community, and a better way of life one day at a time.

We honor the strength, resilience, and commitment it takes to continue walking in a good way. Thank you, Oly, for showing up for the people and helping light the path for others.

In this space, we choose to wear our recovery on our sleeve. Not for attention, but so the next person still struggling can see it’s real… that healing is possible… that we do recover.

A story shared in Wellbriety talking circles tells of three Native sisters walking along a riverbank when they begin to see babies floating downstream, according to recovery advocate Josiah Hugs.
