Before you tell yourself you are lazy or undisciplined for struggling with motivation, I need you to read this.

Motivation is not primarily a mindset issue. It is a nervous system and neurochemistry issue.

When your body is under chronic stress, when your cells are not producing energy efficiently, when key neurotransmitters and nutrients are depleted, your brain literally cannot generate the drive and enthusiasm that motivation requires. It is physiologically impossible.

The four signs I see most often that what looks like a motivation problem is actually a nervous system problem include everything feeling effortful even the small stuff, starting things with initial enthusiasm and dropping them within a week, feeling strangely numb to things that used to light you up, and that constant background sense of 'I should be doing more' with no actual energy to do it.

If this is you, more mindset work is probably not the answer right now. Your body needs metabolic support first.

I want to talk about something that causes a lot of unnecessary suffering in healing journeys.

Feeling worse when you are actually getting better.

This happens more often than most people realize and without context it can feel absolutely devastating. You started a new protocol. You are doing everything right. And then you feel worse than you did before. More tired. More emotional. Old symptoms resurfacing.

For many people this is the point where they give up, convinced that what they are doing is not working or is even harmful.

But here is what I want you to know. When the body starts to feel genuinely safe enough to heal, it often releases things it has been holding. Old stress. Old inflammation. Old patterns that were stored in the nervous system and the tissues. And that release process can feel uncomfortable.

A healing response, even when uncomfortable, comes with periods of genuine clarity or relief in between the harder moments.

Knowing the difference is so important for staying the course. And it is exactly the kind of nuanced support that makes having a practitioner in your corner so valuable.

We need to talk about the 'new month, new you' reset culture because it is genuinely keeping so many women stuck.

Every time you decide you are starting over, your nervous system registers that as instability. It cannot distinguish between a positive fresh start and an unpredictable environment. And an unpredictable environment triggers a survival response.

This means that constant resets, even well-intentioned ones, can actually keep your body in a low-level state of alert that makes true healing really difficult.

The women I work with who experience the most sustainable transformations are not the ones who start over every month. They are the ones who go deeper instead of starting fresh. Who build on what they have learned rather than throwing it all out.
