She has over two dozen other certifications that inform her movement & bodywork treatments, workshops and classes. Deidra Sivertson has been a manual and movement therapist for more than fifteen years with 23 certifications in the fields of fitness and bodywork. She draws upon her interest and experience with the most effective methods of achieving wellness to inform her workshops and classes. Deidra is most inspired by an integrative approach to yoga and the specialized bodywork of myofascial release. As an Expert Myofascial Release Therapist, she has over 300 hours and 15 courses in myofascial release therapies and applications. Deidra studies directly with John F. Barnes, one of the world’s foremost authorities on the subject of myofascial release. She spent a week working side by side with John and his Sedona clinic staff treating patients. Intrigued by the latest scientific research and as a member of the Fascia Research Society, she follows updates as presented by the Biotensegrity Congress and World Fascial Congress. Deidra’s passion is for exploration of adaptive, expressive and meaningful movement within a healthy range of motion. Consider joining us for an engaged inquiry into embodiment, self-awareness, and the rich possibilities of healing and growth; the deep embrace of body as psyche.

This post from my teacher, John Barnes, describes a bit about why emotions often come up during treatment for your healing. When we get quiet enough to listen, and have the courage to let our guards down, the magic of the treatment begins. Cheers to your healing.

Emotions

Emotion is a Greek word, meaning ‘to move’. It is basically the power that moves and drives our body and physiological processes. Our emotions are also a very powerful and important vibratory communication system.

Many times, in the beginning of my myofascial release seminars, I run into a therapist who's just petrified of a thought that the patient/client may get emotional and I kind of chuckle and say to them, “What's the big deal? Have you ever heard of anybody being injured by crying? In fact, don't we all feel better and lighter after we cry?”

I highly recommend, ‘Molecules of Emotion: The Science Behind Mind-Body Medicine’, a book by Dr. Candace Pert, whose research developed the endorphin theory. She describes how emotions flow through the body as the neuropeptide system.
We were brought up to believe that we are thinking brains and our role was to conceptualize everything, thinking and talking incessantly, otherwise we would have no value. This is our beloved Channel 5 😊.

In actuality, Channel 3 is our emotional and intuitive being and is a deeper, more important role, for which Channel 5 is a small part of. We are actually feeling minds that perceive the world through feelings and emotions. The neuropeptides run through the microtubules of the fascial system at an enormous speed and as they connect with the thinking brain, this is when authentic healing occurs !

Is it possible that emotions are the energy and language of the universe ?

When we have stifled our emotions, they become buried in the fascial system and instead of being the energy that drives us, keeping us healthy and vibrant, they become a heavy weight that drags us down. This creates a distorted filter, filled with negativity, which clouds our intellectual, conceptual concepts of our beautiful intellect.

Our goal with myofascial release is to help the individual return to a pain-fee, active lifestyle !

To accomplish this, we need to lessen the internal pressure from the restrictions and create an open system that is less viscous and more fluid. This enables our consciousness and the neuropeptides/emotions to flow through unimpeded. The learning that comes on our path of myofascial release is beautiful and never-ending. Enjoy yourself !

Love,
John

This was strange, as FB would not allow me to use the typical "share" button. I thought it was worth a copy and paste. I am personally a bit allergic to social media. I am reminded of why.

From Dalle via OpenAI

Dear Friends,

When I was younger, I always somewhat despised the more strict families who had numerous rules for their children about what movies or activities were and were not allowed. I often viewed them as “prudish” and disconnected from the modern world.

It felt like a useless effort to control their kids, much like parents in previous generations who tried to stop their children from listening to Beatles songs, fearing it would cause them to be more expressive and free.

AND yet … I found myself reading about Surgeon General Vivek Murthy’s call for a Warning Label on social media platforms with a “Hell yes!” In the NYT Op-ed, he states:

“The mental health crisis among young people is an emergency.”
With adolescents spending almost 5 hours a day on the platforms, mainly on Tik Tok and Instagram, and almost half saying social media makes them feel worse about their bodies, we cannot just ignore this.

If we know something is hurting our children, wouldn’t we want to at least warn them ahead of time?
I do not think social media started with this intention, but sadly, it has become more and more focused on one task: Keep people's attention on the platforms at all costs! Some of the smartest people in the world are spending billions trying to tweak their algorithms to increase time on the networks … and AI is making that easier for them.

This is not about controlling young people’s behavior (though I think some control is needed) but it is more about simply acknowledging what we know: Five hours of social media is not healthy for sensitive, maturing, young humans.

The algorithms are getting so sophisticated, THIS IS NOT A FAIR FIGHT.
We will be sharing more about this effort, and also on our Wisdom and AI Summit this October 27th - 28th, where we will explore the impact of AI in the world.

Technology needs guardrails, and it is too much to expect tech companies to set them. We need to set them, and governments can help.

Blessings,

SOREN

Dear Friends, Some time ago, I was sitting in a van driving to interview the CEO of a tech company. The company had offered to pick me up at the airport, and I was happy to accept. As we drove, the driver posed questions to me. After several questions, it started to feel like an interview, and I ask...
