Taking Care of Yourself (and Your Kids) During Difficult Times 💙
When the world feels heavy, here are some ways to protect your heart, mind, and spirit:
Limit screen time — step back from social media, news, or even texts if you need to.
Move your body — a short walk or stretching can release tension.
Practice grounding — try: name 5 things you see, 4 things you feel, 3 things you hear, 2 things you smell, 1 thing you taste.
Reach out — call a supportive friend or try the free app HearMe, which connects you with trained listeners anytime.
Crisis support — text “HOME” to 741741 (Crisis Text Line, 24/7) or call/text 988 (Su***de & Crisis Lifeline).
💡 Remember, it’s healthy to set boundaries:
If someone sends you a disturbing video: “Please don’t send me things like this, I can’t watch it right now.”
If someone brings up a topic you’re not ready for: “I’d rather not talk about that today.”
If someone says something hurtful: “That was painful to hear, I need to step away.”
✨ It’s okay to not be okay. You’re not alone. Reach out for support when you need it.
