❓️What horses benefit from massage and bodywork?
💬Honestly any and every horse will benefit from a massage session.

❓️When is the best time for a massage session?
💬Anytime! I recommend scheduling a day or so before any chiropractic session. Massaging the muscles helps the chiropractor adjust the skeletal frame and adjustments tend to last longer.

❓️How often should I schedule a bodywork session?
💬Each horse is different! Maintenance schedule is once a month to once every few months. Some are 1-2 a year even. Rehabilitation schedule can vary. Horses that are very sore is recommended to have 3 sessions within a 2 week time frame.

I am so blessed to be as busy as I have been lately! I looooove what I do and helping horses feel their best!

This week I have the honor to work on 3 horses 3 different times for the same owner to really address their soft tissue. These horses work hard for their little people and deserve the best treatment I can give! When a horse receives 3 massages within a 10 day span, the muscles and soft tissues is really targeted to address any pain. The myofascia and muscles are such a beautiful but intricate systems.

Message me today with any questions or to book your horses next bodywork session!!

❗️BALANCE PADS❗️

A tool every owner can do with their horse is using balance pads. They are a great rehabilitation tool but also utilized for injury prevention. Improve your horses coordination and strength with a low impact exercise that any horse can do, and majority even enjoy.

The unstable, uneven soft surface has many benefits to the horse. The pads can be used with 1, 2, 3 or 4 limbs! Single, fronts, backs, diagnols or all four, or even slanted pads!

🔹️Engagement of deep core and stabilizing muscles that are not normally used

🔹️Improve proprioception-the horses awareness of body position and feet placement

🔹️Build core strength

🔹️Improve balance, flexibility, joint stability and movement

🔹️Mental engagement activity that requires concentration which results in relaxtion

Message or comment with any questions you may have of balance pads! You can order inexpensive pairs of Amazon that are durable.

‼️‼️

Have you ever been told to not allow a hot, sweaty horse to drink cold water because it could lead to colic, founder or tie up?

This notion is actually a myth, and a dangerous one too, because it could lead to dehydration and very serious (and real) consequences. A sweaty, hardworking horse needs to be rehydrated without delay (i.e. don’t wait for the horse to cool down first).

The key, however, is to know how much water to allow at one time — because of the equine stomach’s relatively small capacity, offer small amounts of water every 20 minutes until the horse drinks his fill rather than letting the animal drink it all at once.

Remember that water is the most vital nutrient for a horse. A horse’s daily water requirements are influenced by many factors, but the average idle 1,100-pound horse in a cool environment will drink 6 to 10 gallons of water per day. That amount may easily double or triple in a hot environment! Therefore, it goes without saying that providing cool, clean water to your horses at all times is of paramount importance.
