Please join us in celebrating Alex Monson, RN at St. Vincent Regional Hospital with the Intermountain L.O.V.E. (Living Our Values Everyday) Award.

Recognized by a fellow caregiver, Alex is known for his compassion, empathy, and commitment to providing dignified end-of-life care. While caring for a patient who had been estranged from family for many years, Alex went above and beyond to help reconnect loved ones—using his own phone to allow the patient’s son to say goodbye, offer forgiveness, and find peace. He continued that support when the patient’s sister arrived, helping provide a level of closure the family never thought was possible.

✨ “Alex handled an incredibly complex situation with such grace and kindness. He gave this family a gift of peace and closure in their final moments together.”

Shorter days, colder weather, and busy schedules can take a toll on mental health. For some, it’s more than the “winter blues.” Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a form of depression that can affect mood, energy, sleep, and daily life.

Signs can look different for everyone—feeling low most of the day, losing interest in things you enjoy, changes in sleep or appetite, or struggling to get through everyday tasks. And these feelings can affect not just you, but the people around you.

The good news: SAD is treatable. Support may include light therapy, counseling, healthy routines, and, when needed, medication. Small steps—like getting outside during daylight, prioritizing sleep, and setting realistic expectations—can also help.

💙 If your mood is interfering with daily life, don’t brush it off. Support is available, and asking for help is a sign of strength.

When Chaplain John Jamison’s pager goes off at St. Vincent Regional Hospital, he never knows what the moment will hold — grief, joy, uncertainty, or hope. What he does know is that he’ll be there to listen, to comfort, and to walk alongside patients, families, and caregivers when they need it most.

As the hospital’s longest-serving chaplain, John has witnessed moments of deep loss and extraordinary healing — and continues to bring compassion, calm, and purpose to every space he enters.

Happy New Year! St. Vincent Regional Hospital was pleased to welcome our first baby of the new year to our community! A baby boy, Jer'aki was born at 10:43 a.m. to Mariah Lafore and Caleb Mason of Billings. He was 6 lbs 5 oz and 19.5 inches.

As a leader in maternity care, in 2025, St. Vincent welcomed 1841 babies to the Billings community and region. We were recently recognized as high performing among the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care in America by U.S. News & World Report in its annual rankings. The ranking is designed to be a guide to help inform expecting families on where they can receive the best care in their area.

As we step into a new year, Lee Boyles, president of St. Vincent Regional Hospital, joined KBEAR Radio to reflect on a milestone year of progress, innovation, and growth.

From breaking ground on a new, state-of-the-art hospital to beginning construction on Montana’s first large medical supply hub, 2025 marked major investments in the future of care for our community. The year also brought statewide recognition, including an innovation award from the Montana Hospital Association for our certified robotics program, along with recognition as a Best Place to Work—highlighting the incredible caregivers who make this work possible every day.

As we welcome the new year, we’re proud of how far we’ve come and excited for what’s ahead for St. Vincent and the patients we serve. 💙✨
