APTA Montana Member Highlight: Courtney James PT, DPT
Why PT? (What drew you to the profession?)
I was drawn to physical therapy because it blends evidence-based medicine with compassionate, individualized care. I am passionate about advocating for patients and addressing the root cause of dysfunction rather than simply treating symptoms. Physical therapy offers the opportunity to empower individuals through education, movement, and long-term solutions that improve overall quality of life. I am in involved in APTA MT because it gives a strong, unified voice and advocacy for PTs in Montana and also works to improve the overall standard and sustainability of our profession. My favorite part of my job is building relationships with my patients and watching their confidence grow as they realize what their bodies are capable of. Being trusted during vulnerable seasons whether it's a child learning new skills or a woman navigating pelvic health challenges; it is incredibly meaningful. Be confident enough to advocate for your patients, and humble enough to keep learning. Invest in mentorship, continuing education, and self-reflection. Yes, Sole in our clinic name "Heart & Sole" was spelled like that on purpose. Sole holds a deeper meaning for me. In part of the horse's hoof, the sole is essential; it provides protection, balance, and feedback from the ground up. Yes, I am a horse crazy.
