🌞 Sunshine Award: Hannah’s got us glowing! 🌞

We’re proud to celebrate our August Sunshine Award winner, Hannah. When a patient experienced chest pain during his visit, she didn’t just rise to the occasion, she shined! Calm, professional, and compassionate, she made a tough moment a little easier by suggesting the patient’s wife stay by his side. That simple gesture went a long way in making them both feel safe and supported.

💬 “Throughout my stay, Hannah conveyed both warmth and professionalism,” the patient wrote. “She offered to walk with me in the hallway, checked on me, listened to me, communicated with the nurses, and clearly has her patient’s best interest at heart.”

Thanks, Hannah, for being the kind of person who makes healthcare a little more human – and a lot more sunny 😎

As the leaves drop, we're busy making sure our patients don't! This spooky season, our educators are reminding everyone that safe patient handling isn't just smart, it's essential.

Whether it's using proper lifting techniques, assistive devices or teamwork that's tighter than a mummy wrap, we're committed to keeping our patients safe and upright like a scarecrow.

Because in our world, the only thing falling this time of year should be the temperature! 🍂❄

🎉 Congratulations to Annie! 🏆

We’re proud to celebrate Annie, director of our UHS Population Health team, who was recently honored with the 2025 Emerging Leader Award from Binghamton University Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences! 🌟

Annie’s leadership has been nothing short of extraordinary. She successfully managed one of New York State’s high-risk COVID-19 vaccination centers, ensuring safe and efficient care during a critical time. In addition to her work in population health, Annie is a passionate advocate for employee well-being, helping to foster a healthier, more supportive workplace for all.

This award is a testament to her vision, resilience, and dedication to improving health outcomes across our organization and community.

Our team brought the energy with a football-themed celebration that scored big on spirit and collaboration. 🏆

💐🎉 Recently, we had the honor of celebrating Toni in a big way! After an amazing career as our Director of Nursing Education, Toni retired, leaving behind a legacy of mentorship, growth, and innovation.

To top it off, she was named the inaugural recipient of the Nursing Leadership DAISY Award 🌼🏆 — a fitting recognition for the leader who has inspired so many and built the foundation for future nurse leaders to thrive.

Of course, we couldn’t let Toni go without a proper send-off… so out came the boas, sunglasses, and plenty of photos! 😎💃 A celebration as vibrant as the leader we were honoring.

💡👏 Shoutout to two of our own, Dave and Rosemary, who recently took their show on the road! They recently shared their expertise at a state nurse leadership conference where they wowed the crowd with two of their projects: giving insight into UHS’ summer nurse externship program and exploring how AI can make lives easier for nurse leaders. 🤖

They showed robots won’t be replacing nurses anytime soon, but it may make our meetings shorter. We couldn’t be prouder of Dave and Rosemary for representing us and showcasing the innovation happening on our nursing team! 💙

Both of them are leading our Nursing Research Council, part of our shared governance. Congrats to Dave and Rosemary on their presentation!

🌞 Sunshine Award Celebration 🌞
Join us in congratulating Cora, one of our amazing nursing assistants, for being our latest Sunshine Award recipient!

Cora was nominated because she has a way of making patient feel seen and cared for while in the hospital. One patient shared that Cora made her feel safe and valued and "not just another patient in a bed." Through her reassurance, thoughtfulness, and gentle presence, Cora turned a difficult hospital stay into an experience complete with dignity and comfort. 💛

🚁 Cleared for Landing and Leading 🚑

Congratulations to Taylor and Lynn for earning certifications in their specialties recently!

Taylor earned her Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credentials. This achievement shows her hard work and dedication to emergency nursing – and now she’s flying high at the top of her field. She’s landing right where she belongs, among the elite in emergency nursing. Talk about a high-altitude achievement!🌟

Lynn earned her Certified Nurse Manager and Leader credentials and is proving that leadership looks great in scrubs. She is the manager of our recovery room and has moved from post-anesthesia care to post-exam glory. 👩‍⚕️
