📓✏ First Day!

We recently welcomed two nurses to our Main Tower 6 telemetry unit – Laura and Brianna! 🎉 They came in badges shining and ready to learn and care!

✅Scrubs pressed
✅Stethoscope clean
✅Caffeine secured (obviously) ☕

Laura started at UHS as a nursing assistant in 2022. She recently graduated from SUNY Broome, and has a goal of becoming a critical care nurse in the future.

Brianna has been a nursing assistant at UHS since 2021 in obstetrics, graduated from SUNY Morrisville, and would like to grow up to be a CVICU nurse.

We’re excited to see them grow, learn, and bring their own unique sparks to our team. Join us in welcoming them to our team – you’ve got this! 🙌

We're celebrating Robbin, one of our incredible nurse managers, for reaching an amazing milestone - 35 years with UHS!

She has spent most of her career in the operating room, which she now leads with compassion and commitment. Robbin has been a cornerstone of our nursing community, often giving up personal and family time to be there for patients, support her team, and assist surgeons.

🎓🩺 Welcome, New Residents! 🎓🩺

As new resident physicians begin their journey in our hospitals, our nursing team is right there beside them helping build skills, confidence, and a strong foundation for patient care. This week, our nurses led hands-on education sessions covering IO insertion, defibrillator and pacer use, and ACLS algorithms, all crucial skills for emergency response and critical care.

By mentoring new providers and promoting safe, team-based practices, our nurse educators ensure our residents are ready for real-world challenges from day one. 💪

☀️Sunshine Award Spotlight☀️

Congratulations to Inessa, our latest Sunshine Program Award winner! 🏆

Inessa is a CNA at UHS Senior Living at Ideal and was the May winner of the Sunshine Award. The Sunshine program recognizes the extraordinary care and contributions of our non-licensed nursing support staff.

The nursing assistant was nominated by a family member of a patient under her care. In the letter, the family member talked about their 81-year-old mother-in-law, who lived independently before post-operative complications left her bedridden and significantly reduced her mobility. The patient felt stressed and afraid when she arrived at Ideal for rehabilitation until she met Inessa, who gave her the emotional support she needed to begin her recovery. The nominator's mother-in-law referred to Inessa as "her angel" for showing her compassion and making her feel safe. When the patient got lonely in the evenings, Inessa was there for her and motivated her to push through her recovery, even when she was scared.

Thank you to Inessa for treating our patients with compassion and respect, a "shining" example of our team living "The UHS Way!" 😎

🌼DAISY Award Spotlight🌼

We're proud to recognize Jill, one of our amazing nurse educators, as our most recent honoree! 🥇🏆

The nurse educator was nominated by a colleague, who wrote about how impressed she was with Jill's thoughtful and practical suggestions, as well as her willingness to go above and beyond to help with something not under her responsibilities. Jill's colleague also mentioned what truly stood out was that Jill immediately volunteered to take the lead in revising and updating all of the educational content. She embraced this responsibility with enthusiasm and professionalism despite it being outside her required duties. Jill not only updated the technical components of the station but also introduced innovative, learner-centered approaches to improve knowledge retention and clinical judgment among new graduate nurses.
