To lower your cancer risk, stay physically active; avoid diets rich in red meat, processed meat, or low in fiber; and avoid smoking. If you already smoke, the best choice you can make is to stop. This year, we're excited to be joined by chef Nick Bracero from Armour House, where fresh local cuisine meets refined elegance. A self-taught painter from right here in Birmingham, Caleb's work has been featured in galleries from Voltz-Clarke Gallery in Manhattan to numerous solo shows around the southeast. The UAB O’Neal Cancer Center has been recognized as a national leader in cancer prevention, treatment, research, and innovation, in being named to the Becker’s Hospital Review of the “100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs."

Colorectal cancer screenings, like colonoscopies, can detect and prevent colon cancer early. Screenings should begin at age 45, but people with a family history of colorectal cancer or other risk factors may need to begin screening sooner. In the lead up to Palate & Palette, we're spotlighting the talented chefs and artists who help make this one party you don't want to miss! First up, we're announcing the return of our Patron's Choice Award winners to this year's event!

Our first showcase highlight is for chef Neville Baay, the executive chef at El Barrio, a restaurant known for preparing multi-regional, Mexican-inspired cuisine from seasonally-sourced produce, gulf seafood, and humanely farm-raised meat. We can't wait to see what he's got cooking for this year's Palate & Palette!

We're also pleased to announce the return of artist Margaret Anne Lee! Margaret works with a variety of mediums, ranging from abstract painting to meticulous architectural drawings, and she skillfully captures both realistic and abstract floral compositions. We're looking forward to seeing what she creates at this year's big event!
