Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders involve pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. Gentle massage of the jaw, neck, and shoulders can relieve muscle spasms, improve range of motion, and reduce pain during chewing or speaking. Paired with stretching exercises, massage helps restore comfortable jaw alignment.
At Birmingham Massage Couple we offer two options: You can book a 60 or 30 minute TMJ massage with Callie, Jane, or Niya. They are nationally certified in TMJ work and can go into the mouth with gloves on and work on your TMJ joint directly. You can also book a regular massage with a TMJ addon which is 10-15 minutes of your massage time devoted to TMJ work. This is done outside of the mouth and done by any of our therapists.
