We had an awesome group of students from Oneonta High School participate in a work task training class as part of United Ability’s Transition Services program!🔧

In this session, students explored basic mechanic skills that can support entry-level roles at oil change or mechanic shops. Every student was engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and showed a real eagerness to learn.

They practiced checking fluid levels, measuring and adjusting tire pressure, inspecting visible hoses and belts, and getting familiar with common tools used in the field.

A huge thank you to Bobby McCray for taking the time to share his knowledge and help equip these students with valuable, real-world skills.

It's Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we’re excited to celebrate the people who show up, give back, and help make Possibility Beyond Disability a reality every day!

Our volunteers are an essential part of the United Ability community, sharing their time, talents, and hearts to support individuals with disabilities and their families. Whether they’re lending a hand at events, supporting daily programs, or leading a facilities project with compassion, their impact is felt in countless ways.

Because of you, more opportunities are created, more connections are made, and more lives are empowered to thrive. Thank you for being such an important part of our mission. We’re so grateful for you!

During the Week of the Young Child, we’re celebrating the power of early support and the families at the heart of our First Teacher Home Visiting Program.

Through personalized guidance, trusted relationships, and practical tools, this program empowers parents and helps children thrive from the very beginning.

For Peter’s family, the family-centered support provided by First Teacher helped transform uncertainty into hope, supporting his growth from a nonverbal toddler to a socially engaged child flourishing in school. For Elizabeth’s family, First Teacher has provided encouragement, confidence, connection, and a vital support system for navigating parenthood with a community that celebrates every developmental milestone.

These stories reflect what’s possible when families are supported, children are seen for their potential, and early childhood services meet families where they are. Because when we invest in young children and those who care for them, we create Possibility Beyond Disability.

WOW, Huntsville — thank you!

We’re incredibly grateful for the strong turnout at the ribbon cutting for Gone for Good Huntsville. Thank you to the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber and Madison Chamber of Commerce for helping make the celebration so meaningful.

Gone For Good Huntsville represents an exciting milestone, the first Gone For Good franchise location beyond Birmingham, where United Ability has provided secure document destruction and meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities since 2006.

Huntsville, you’re not just getting a shredding company. You’re supporting a business model that shows inclusive employment works.

We’re proud to serve North Alabama and excited for what’s ahead.

Our Transition Team continues to raise the bar for what’s possible by going above and beyond to create experiences that truly matter. They do not just teach. They find creative ways to connect learning to real life and open doors for students.

Recently, students at Woodlawn High School had the chance to learn in a hands-on, meaningful way thanks to a special guest, Wayne Wells. He brought a real-world experience into the classroom by building a wall and walking students through drywall repair. Experiences like this build confidence and help students see what they are capable of.

We are incredibly grateful for partners like Wayne, Woodlawn High School, and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services. Because of these partnerships, students with disabilities are gaining practical skills, exploring new opportunities, and preparing to enter the workforce with confidence.

This is what it looks like when a community comes together to invest in potential.
