DERMAZING RACE 2026 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃 We had a dermazing time solving puzzles and finding clues all over Birmingham. Congratulations to our tied winning teams: the Kerateam Pearls and the Melanocytes!

And a big thank you to Avondale Public Library, the Rougaroux, and Cahaba Brewing for being stops in our race!

Congratulations to Dr. Ravi Hiremagalore on his pilot grant award from the UAB Mary Heersink Institute for Global Health. His project received pilot funding to establish an international collaboration with UAB Medicine and the Centre for Human Genetics in Bangalore, India.

Dr. Hiremagalore plans to study the clinical outcomes of different subtypes in Epidermoysis Bullosa (EB) in two geographically different populations over two years. The two cohorts will get data to design future studies on clinical outcomes, not only in EB, but other common dermatological diseases, and understand whether environment plays a role in management outcomes.

We are so proud of Dr. Hiremagalore and his initiative to tackle shared global health challenges!

Congratulations to our Department of Dermatology staff who were honored for their significant career commitment to !
- Regina Farmer is a Program Coordinator in our dermatopathology office and completed 35 years of service.
- Dr. Boni Elewski is a clinic provider, endowed professor, and the current department chair and completed 25 years of service.
- Dr. Nabiha Yusuf is an Associate Scientist in our Basic Sciences laboratory and completed 20 years of service.

Thank you so much for all of the hard work and time you have given to our community!
