The Stott Pilates method was developed in the 1980s and is continually refined by Moira Merrithew and Lindsay G. They have spent more than two decades refining the Stott Pilates method, in collaboration with physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals, to ensure it is aligned with current scientific and biomechanical research. Moira Merrithew received her Pilates training from Romana Kryzanowska, a protégé of Joseph Pilates, following her career as a principal dancer with the City Ballet of Toronto and the Atlantic Ballet Company. Lindsay constructed Moira’s first piece of studio equipment called a “Reformer”, because this equipment could not otherwise be obtained. Pilates was very much a cottage industry at the time and access to equipment was very limited. These machines were constructed out of wood. Moira and Lindsay Merrithew recognized that the original equipment designs of Joseph Pilates were not adjustable and the person had to adjust to the machine and not the other way around.

New group of amazing students going through Teacher training!! What a fun and smart group too!! Also, I love how much I learn every time I lead a new group through training as well. Every student brings something to the table to learn from.

Teacher Training can be for e ANYONE. We have trained high school students wanting a side hustle, to retired state senators wanting a second career, to Physical Therapist wanting to add pilates to their facility, to people in the corporate sect wanting a different pace of life...I could go on and on. This career path doesn’t have to fit any type of “box”.

and I will be running another education coming this Fall 2021. DM if interested.

Every Friday at the end of each reformer class we do a relaxation time. We stretch, release tension, and use aromatherapy spray to help in the process! After 50 minutes of working hard 😓 the extra relaxation time is a reward!

This is one of my favorite exercises on the reformer! We are using the frontal and the transverse planes to stabilize the body and using the sagittal plane to mobilize the hip! In other words “not easy” 🤣!

To all our current students going through the education courses, try this exercise and think through what muscles work hard to keep you stabile and what muscles work hard to mobilize your hip here?

Back work... middle traps and lower traps, rhomboids, serratus anterior, lats, etc etc so many muscles that get weak and stuck in our culture where we sit a lot and have to round forward to study or at a computer. We are all about reversing the effects of this !!!
