🌟 Nurse Shoutout: Marie Carter, RN 🌟
Help us celebrate Marie Carter, a dedicated nurse with 32+ years of experience and a heart for service.

Marie’s journey began in high school as a volunteer. From there, she became a home health aide, earned her LPN, and eventually advanced to RN. Inspired by her mother’s compassion, Marie has always believed in truly seeing and supporting people during their most vulnerable moments.

Her background includes dialysis, ER, and trauma nursing—where she performed CPR, helped save countless lives, and even delivered a baby in the hospital lobby. These unforgettable moments have shaped her into the calm, steady nurse she is today.

After moving to Alabama, Marie thought she might retire. Instead, she found a new passion through ATC Healthcare as a school nurse. With her own children in school and years of caring for kids, the role felt like a natural fit and a meaningful new chapter.

✨ Marie’s Words of Encouragement:
“If caring for someone at their most vulnerable moment is in your heart, nursing may be your calling.”

Thank you, Marie, for your compassion, strength, and service. 💙

🌟Nurse of the Week Spotlight: Jayla Taylor, RN🌟

Please help us celebrate Jayla Taylor, RN, a nurse whose heart, compassion, and dedication shine in everything she does. Jayla is a powerful reminder of what it truly means to care.

💛 Her Passion for Nursing

Jayla was inspired to enter nursing by her desire to help the most vulnerable. In a world where compassion can often feel lost, she chose to become a force of grace and humanity. Every day, Jayla shows up with intention—serving, protecting, and uplifting those who need it most. Her commitment reminds us that compassion is still alive and deeply needed.

💼 What Jayla Loves About Her Work

Jayla loves being an anchor of compassion—a steady, grounding presence for her patients. She finds purpose in helping shape decisions that genuinely improve patients’ lives.

🌟 A Memorable Moment in Her Journey

One of Jayla’s most impactful moments came when advocating for a patient in severe pain who urgently needed an MRI. After facing challenges with insurance precertification—and with no one else available—Jayla took matters into her own hands.

She stayed well beyond her shift, worked directly with the insurance company, provided all required documentation, and requested an expedited review. Her professionalism and patience paid off: the MRI was approved the same day, allowing her patient to receive the critical care they needed.

It wasn’t just her persistence—it was her compassion, and it made all the difference.

🌱 How ATC Has Supported Her

Jayla shares that ATC has been a strong partner in helping her reach her goals. While many organizations promise support, ATC continues to provide real opportunities, resources, and encouragement. She is truly grateful for the unwavering commitment.

✨ Jayla’s Words of Encouragement

“Compassion isn’t just part of the job—it’s a mindset. Let it be the foundation of how you care, how you advocate, and how you show up for every patient who trusts you.”

Please join us in congratulating Jayla for her outstanding dedication and heart. We are so proud to have her as part of the ATC Family! 💙

Linda’s career spans multiple specialties—including Neurology, Rheumatology, Oncology, Rehab, and Orthopedics—but her greatest passion has always been studying the brain. 🌟 Nurse Shoutout: Uresa Powell, CNA 🌟

Meet Uresa Powell, a dedicated Certified Nurse Assistant who has been part of the ATC family for over 10 years! ❤️

Uresa was drawn to the healthcare field because of her deep compassion for others and her natural desire to lend a helping hand — and sometimes, just a listening ear when it’s needed most. She says,

“I like helping others even when it’s impossible to help myself. There’s a great need for nurses who truly care — not just those in it for the money. You have to love your job and love what you do to be successful.”

Uresa shares that ATC has supported her journey since day one, always offering guidance and encouragement.

“ATC is more than just a company — they’re like family. They work with you, care about you, and support you even when you’re sick or unable to fulfill your duties.”

🌟 ATC Nurse Spotlight: Dr. Nekia Steger Whitlow, DNP, FNP, CRNP

At ATC Healthcare, we’re proud to shine a light on our dedicated nurses who go above and beyond every day. This week, we’re celebrating Dr. Nekia Steger Whitlow, a compassionate and driven healthcare professional whose journey embodies passion, perseverance, and purpose.

With 28 years in healthcare, Dr. Whitlow’s story is one of lifelong dedication. She began her journey as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in 1997, briefly explored another path, but soon returned to pursue her true calling nursing. While balancing work and family, she advanced her education, earning her BSN in 2014, MSN in 2022, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2023.

Today, Dr. Whitlow serves as a full-time Nurse Practitioner and part-time Registered Nurse, continuing to make an impact wherever she goes. “I’ve always been a nurturer,” she shares. “At a young age, I knew I wanted to be a nurse. The idea of making others feel better physically and mentally fills my heart with joy.”

Her career has taken her through Skilled Nursing Facilities, Rehabilitation Centers, Outpatient Clinics, and Inpatient Care each experience strengthening her commitment to quality, compassionate care. For Dr. Whitlow, the most fulfilling moments are seeing patients who arrive in poor condition recover and leave stronger. “Those moments remind me why I chose this path,” she says.

Since joining ATC Healthcare in 2018, Dr. Whitlow has served in various capacities, including providing in-home care for the elderly, completing insurance assessments, and caring for school-aged and special needs children in after-school programs and on school bus routes.

“Working for ATC has been so rewarding,” she says. “The company offers a variety of experiences, provides excellent training, and keeps us up to date on all state guidelines and regulations. The staff is always professional and kind—and Kerel is truly a gem!”

When asked what advice she would share with other nurses, Dr. Whitlow’s words reflect her wisdom and heart:

“Always remember your ‘Why.’ There will be challenging days, but the rewards outweigh the frustrations. Stay connected to your purpose and your passion for helping others.”

Thank you, Dr. Whitlow, for your dedication, leadership, and compassion. You represent the very best of what ATC Healthcare stands for quality care with heart.
