Going through life without any defeats is impossible but what is possible is learning from those defeats. Learning and growing from our defeats and our successes is what makes us who we are. There will be some things in life that we might not be sure that we can come back from and that’s when it’s time to reflect back on how far we’ve come already. Sometimes we might need to find someone we trust that we can talk to about the defeats so we can find our way forward again.

Being emotionally vulnerable can feel scary for some people. It means opening up to others and sharing your personal thoughts, feelings and experiences that might be painful for you to expose. It might also put you in a position where you feel like you could get hurt.

There are different things that could keep you from or make it difficult to be vulnerable and some of those things could include:

- Fear of rejection
- Fear of judgement
- Lack of trust
- Past trauma
- A belief that vulnerability is a sign of weakness
- Societal pressure to live up to a certain image or to be self-sufficient

It is completely normal if you find it hard to be vulnerable or feel like it just isn’t something you can do. Feeling vulnerable can naturally trigger an anxiety response and the fight or flight survival mode, making you avoid feeling vulnerable because you see it as a threat.

It is entirely possible to enjoy several mental, emotional, and even spiritual benefits by “pouring” ourselves a glass of our favorite music. Music can provide healing. Music can offer a new sense of appreciation for the people and places we have lost. And music can inspire us to do what we thought wasn’t possible. Music can also be like a Time Machine, teleporting us back to memories long forgotten.

Regardless of your preferred flavor of music, I would suggest to you to take some time each day to sip from the cup of your best-loved songs. Where will you go today?
