Did you know gut health may play a role in vision loss from diabetes?

New research led by Maria Grant, M.D., professor in the UAB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, reveals a gut-retina connection that could help prevent or slow diabetic retinopathy. Published in Gut, the study shows how restoring key gut metabolites may protect the retina and preserve vision.
