Yesterday, Children's of Alabama hosted an event to announce that the Quarterbacking Children's Health Foundation will help to relocate and expand the pediatric care unit. The project involves building out the Benjamin Russell hospital building’s 12th floor—which is currently shelled space—to serve as a 50-bed unit that will have the flexibility to meet the needs of both critical care patients and lower acuity patients. In recognition of the foundation’s gift, the unit will be named the Quarterbacking Children’s Health Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. As part of this project, Children’s also will be able to update intensive care rooms and bring in the latest technology designed to care for patients on the unit. Construction is set to begin this year and is expected to be completed in 2026.

Guests signed encouraging messages on the walls that will soon be remodeled.

Recently, $2 million was donated to 31 local nonprofits. We were able to make that happen because of so many people. Earlier this week, we visited a few of those nonprofits to see first-hand how the funds will be used. We love seeing the important work in our community! Together, we're helping wonderful organizations that are making life-changing impacts on children and youth across our state. And, we aren’t done! Be there as we honor the late Bobby Bowden.

On February 19, we will honor the late Coach Bobby Bowden at the Nick Saban Legacy Awards. Hailed as one of the greatest coaches in college football, Coach Bowden led FSU to two national titles, 12 ACC championships and finished every season from 1987 to 2000 with at least ten wins. A Birmingham native, he was inducted into the American College Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and retired in 2008 with an overall record of 377-129-4. His impact spanned far beyond the field as he developed personal relationships with players and coaches alike. Nick Saban paid tribute following Coach Bowden’s passing saying, “There’s probably not many in this profession that I have more respect for than Coach Bowden — not only as a coach and what he accomplished on the field, but the kind of person he was, the kind of character he had and the class he exemplified as a college football coach.” Join us as we honor Coach Bowden and his legacy! Our Story

The Crippled Children’s Foundation provides funds to fulfill medical needs and support for Alabama children and young adults.

Founded in 1929, the Crippled Children's Foundation provides direct financial support to nonprofit organizations providing vital medical services to children, which services would not otherwise be available.

In 2019, with the funds raised by the Monday Morning Quarterback Club of Birmingham and earnings from the Crippled Children's Foundation endowment, $1,625,000 will be granted to local charities.
