Wandering Yoga Cooperative Wandering Yoga Cooperative Yoga?? …... We are a wandering yoga group traveling about the Birmingham area to parks and venues to practice the art of zen.

Yoga is a mixed focus of mind, body, and spirit found in strength, flexibility, balance. breath, and meditation. Currently our classes meet at Avondale Park 6:00-7:15

If you would like to be added to the weekly email list: please send an email to Ann @ andilaw@earthlink.net
The venues are donated and we frequently change the scene. The current time and place for practice is sent out in weekly emails and facebook post. The classes last 1 Hr and 15 min and the fee is $5.00-$10.00 donation per participant per class. Fees are collected at the beginning of each class. The style is Hatha Yoga postures and yin yang vinyasa flow. If you are a novice, do not let that hinder you. Yoga is a welcoming discipline. Participants should bring their own mats if possible but we do have a few spares. A block, a strap, and a towel are optional but recommended. If you don't have a block and strap, don't let that stop you. You are also encouraged to wear stretchy yet loose clothing that will allow you to achieve the postures comfortably. It is also recommended to bring water - hydration is key to effective practice. Our instructor is Loren Kelly.

An 83-year-old man was preparing to step onto the down escalator at the Holyoke Mall in Ingleside, Massachusetts, last summer... but suddenly stopped. Fear was obvious in his eyes, and he trembled. That did not go unnoticed. 23-year-old Alonzo Johnson caught it; he could tell the man was scared to death to step onto that escalator. So Alonzo quickly changed his course and headed over to the frightened, elderly man. He asked the man if he could help him down the escalator. The man said Yes, and Alonzo took him by the arm and the two of them carefully stepped onto the escalator. A friend Alonzo was with in the mall took a photo of the two riding down the escalator and posted it on Facebook. It quickly went viral and had more than 420,000 likes and more than 25,000 comments. One of those comments read: “In about an hour, the evening news will air and we'll be reminded of division, race wars, political mud-slinging, shootings and other heartaches. But today, violence, race, age, politics and other social lines were blurred and one person simply helped another.” Alonzo, who had no idea a photo was taken of the moment, said: “My mom always tells us to be nice and do the right thing... It's really the way I was brought up and how I was raised.” And from where I sit, Alonzo's mom did a pretty darn good job bringing him up

Dog Poisoned by the Diffuser
Saturday night I got home late and my dog didn't recognize me. Being a nanny I thought I woke him up and he was having a night terror. Sunday, he was still acting weird. I realized that I had been running my new diffuser and decided to turn it off. Sunday afternoon, he was feeling better.

Today at work, my dog sitter said that he wouldn't come out from under the bed. It was very odd as he is a happy dog.

I came from work early and again, he was very confused about who I was.

So I took him to emergency vet.

It turns out that the tea tree oil I was using in the diffuser is toxic for dogs. Thankfully the test showed that his liver was ok but we weren't out of the woods yet. He was given fluids under his skin to get the toxins out.

The vet and the poison control are saying that they see these cases often now that the popularity of essential oil is growing.

Please make sure that the essential oils you are burning are not toxic for your pets.

Here is a list of essential oils not to use if you have a dog at home

Anise (Pimpinella anisum)
Birch (Betula)
