Great morning at the 10th Annual End Addiction Birmingham walk. It was great getting to promote our services, see former colleagues and clients, and getting to promote addiction recovery.

People often think they get enough therapy in treatment programs but that is often just simply not true. Counseling beyond treatment along with recovery support are often part of many recovery stories.

We are here to help in any way that we can!

Come see us on Resource Row at the 2026 End Addiction Walk. We are so happy to be part of this event and to be able to promote how counseling can help people seek change, work through change, and maintain changes to keep recovery going. We are proud to be with our clients every step of the way.

There are still a few spots left for next Thursday’s online training. Only $20 for 3 CE hours for counselors and social workers. This is a great topic to start entering purpose into starting change and long-lasting change.

Several unexpected issues came up and we are postponing the golf tournament until late September. Should have a new date in a few days. Anyone having already registered can hold their spot for September or receive a refund. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we feel September will give us a stronger event.

Letting everyone know of some changes/growth that has happened.

Becca received her LPC and is now seeing clients full-time in our Birmingham/Trussville office. She sees children starting at 5, adolescents, and adults. She currently has openings now for new clients.

Stephanie has received her LICSW and will be seeing clients on Tuesday and Thursday in our Oneonta office. She sees adolescents and adults. She has openings starting 4/28/26.

They have both been with us for a while and are stepping into more work. Full staff bios and other details can be found at www.newdirectionweb.com

We are so grateful for our team and our clients. We can’t wait to see what we can help people overcome. We are just a phone call, text message, or an online appointment away!

April through June continuing education events for counselors and social workers. Each are only $20 for 3 hours of continuing education.

We can’t do this without you golfers and businesses. There’s still room for 10 foursomes and hole sponsors. Single players are welcome and we will make a foursome.

The afternoon dogfight will be another round of fun!

All proceeds go to helping clients who cannot afford counseling. We want to be able to help individuals and families with no financial limitations that would keep them from getting help.

Seeking Volunteers to help with our upcoming events.

We need 5-6 volunteers for various activities for each event. The golf tournament will very much be an outdoor role while the conference will be indoors at Trussville Civic Center.

Both of these events help us raise funds to reach even more people in the community who do not feel they have access to counseling.

And that’s a wrap….grateful for the opportunity to provide training to the staff of the Firehouse Shelter on Managing Disruptive Audiences and Crisis Intervention.

It’s always great when we get to see one of our main goals happen—help strengthen other nonprofits through training.

We love our clients dealing with bipolar disorder. It’s often not just about the extreme highs and lows but working on managing the middle to help the highs and lows. Stable recovery is possible….just takes medication and therapy.

Great first day at ASADS 2026! So great to be around colleagues and co-workers from previous years. Great opportunities to reach more people and a full room for the Ethics workshop. Looking forward to day 2.

We also have a winner from day 1 where we gave away a 2-day conference attendance for the our 2nd Annual Bridging the Gap Conference in June. There will be a winner each day of ASADS.
