I'd like to tell you about a little dog named Abby Rose and her mom, Jill Layne. Please take a minute to read their story. 💕 Just look at these photos–excuse me, talk about a cutie! I worked with her just over 3½ years. Little Abby left us last week. Abby had had successful surgery for a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament (CCL), and studies show that when a dog has this condition in one hind leg, there's about a 50% chance that it will develop in the other. It can be debilitating, terribly painful, and wreck a dog's quality of life.
Toward the end of 2021, Jill contacted me to see if and how I could help her little girl. I let her know about my considerable experience with CCL injuries, and of course offered references. Without hesitation, she booked Abby's first Lazy Circles session.
For just over 3½ years my job for Abby and Jill was to do my best to prevent that second CCL from being injured, to keep her musculoskeletal system in balance, and to minimize any inflammation and discomfort. The three of us sat in their living room every other week while Abby had her bodywork, and Jill and I would talk and laugh the whole hour.
Jill is such a special person, and I'm so grateful to her for trusting me with Abby's care. She's always been committed to keeping up regularly scheduled sessions with me. When each one was over, she'd say, "Now let's look at our calendars and see when her next one is," and we'd get Abby booked again on the spot. Believe me, someone with that level of dedication is my dream client, because that consistency is how we get the good work done.
I'm so very sad that Abby left us last week. You have to understand that after 3½ years, a dog lives deep in my heart and her family means a lot to me. I'm going to miss being greeted at the door by Abby and her wagging tail, bright eyes, and huge helping of sass. Such a beautiful girl, smart, funny, and yes, so headstrong; she was a lot of dog for such a little body! I'm going to miss those visits with Jill, and my heart hurts for her. But hopefully we can have a visit here and there to talk and laugh again.
Jill, thank you so much for your loving care of sweet Abby Rose, for your unwavering belief in and support of Lazy Circles, and for all the hugs. We did it. Good Girl, Abby. ❤️
