Learn the Count Workshop
May 17 at 11:30 am l $35

Ashtanga yoga is a counted system — every breath and coordinated movement accounted for. Each posture has an ideal number of inhales and exhales for moving into and out of it, and traditionally those vinyasa are counted in Sanskrit.

Learning the count helps focus the mind, holds the rhythm of your practice, and connects you more deeply to the structure of the sequence. Once you know it, you always know where you are. [More Information Here]

Community Picnic
June 7 11:30–1:30 pm

Come hang out with your AYB family outside, in the sunshine.

We'll meet at Railroad Park for a relaxed afternoon together. Bring your own lunch and we'll take care of drinks and dessert.

Everyone is welcome. Students, partners, kids, friends who've been meaning to check out the studio but haven't yet.

Yoga Teacher Training
Begins October 2026

Applications are open. I'm co-leading this with Cory Bryant and we've put together something I'm really proud of. It runs October through February, it's capped at 15 people, and it's built for practitioners who want to go deeper whether or not they ever plan to teach. If you've been thinking about it, now's the time.

Ashtanga yoga is a counted system. Every breath and movement are accounted for.

The vinyasa count is what transforms the practice into moving meditation. It holds the rhythm, focuses the mind, and connects you to the structure of the sequence.

Everyone welcome.

Ashtanga is the original form and most influential forms of vinyasa yoga. The linking of breath and movement, the sun salutations, the sequencing principles can all trace back to this practice.

When you train in the source, everything else makes sense. You’re not memorizing flows. You understand why the practice is built the way it is.

our 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training launches October 2026 here in Birmingham. It’s grounded in Ashtanga and designed for people who want to teach or simply deepen their understanding of yoga.

A lot of yoga teacher training programs treat meditation like a footnote. Ours doesn’t.

We built meditation into the core of this program because we think it’s inseparable from the practice.

You don’t have to want to stand in front of a room of people to get something out of this training. A lot of what we’re doing is just learning to sit with yourself. To pay attention. To understand your own mind well enough to stop getting in your own way.

Applications are open. We begin in October. For more information follow link in stories or send us a dm.

The Tristhana method is Ashtanga’s built-in tool to keep you present and connected in your yoga practice.

Tomorrow I’m teaching a workshop entirely dedicated to these three tools. Come learn how to actually use them.

Meet Cory Bryant — co-lead teacher for the AYB 200-Hour Yoga & Meditation Teacher Training this October.

Cory brings a rare combination to this training: a PhD, a long teaching career, and a meditation practice that goes deep. He’s not here to fill a role, he’s here because this kind of training matters to him.

We designed this program for practitioners who are ready to go beyond the postures — into the philosophy, the ethics, the inner work. Whether you want to teach or just want to understand your practice at a different level, this is for you.

Space is limited to 15 students. October 2026 — Birmingham, AL.
