IntNSA President, Dana Murphy-Parker, wants you to know 3 cool things about attending a conference in Seattle, WA.

1) It's easy to navigate and incredibly walkable; not to mention the chef-driven food culture and waterfront attractions. TripAdvisor notes that from our conference hotel it's a breeze to "Walk to Pike Place Market, hop on the monorail to experience the Space Needle and Seattle Center, or explore one of America’s most talked about social scenes in Capitol Hill, all without hailing a cab".

2) It's known for it's tech-forward, sustainable venues. Our conference hotel, the Hyatt at Olive 8, is known for eco-friendly hospitality and mod-luxe vibe. What does that mean exactly? Well, it has energy-efficient rooms, locally sourced food and beverages, and all-natural spa treatments at Elaia!

3) It has the most spectacular nature & water experiences. There's everything from harbor cruises and dining restaurants, to the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound views, and more. We'll also be hosting a post-conference activity that's sure to offer just some of what Seattle has to offer!

Learn more about the Hyatt at Olive, or register for the Annual Conference, at https://www.intnsa.org/2026-annual-conference. You can also learn more about Seattle at https://visitseattle.org.

The International Nurses Society on Addictions-USA (with full and strong support of IntNSA-Global) expresses deep disappointment and serious concern regarding the recent decision by the Administration and the U.S. Department of Education to remove nursing from the professional designation category used to determine eligibility for expanded federal funding for MSN, DNP and PhD Programs. The exclusion of nurses, particularly those in specialty practice, from the professional designation funding eligibility creates an urgent barrier to the nursing workforce development at a time when the U.S healthcare system faces unprecedented strain.

The United States already faces well-documented nursing shortages across multiple nursing specialties, including addiction nursing. Research continues to demonstrate that specialty shortages undermine access to high-quality, evidence-based care; restrict the pipeline for advanced clinical training; and limit academic capacity for preparing the next generation of nurses. Addiction nursing sits at the intersection of two national crises: the ongoing opioid epidemic and worsening behavioral health workforce shortages.

Our mission is to advance excellence in nursing care for the prevention and treatment of addictions for diverse populations across all practice settings through advocacy, collaboration, education, research and policy development.

Our goal is to help nurses provide high-quality, evidence-based addictions nursing care for patients, families, populations and communities. IntNSA has something to offer every nurse regardless of their area of nursing practice. With the prevalence of addiction-related health consequences, we believe that all nurses can and should acquire and maintain a basic level of knowledge and skills to address substance use and related disorders.
