🌟 Employment Spotlight: Meet Cephus! 🌟

Cephus has been employed with Engineered Plastic Components for the past three years, where he continues to demonstrate dedication, reliability, and a strong work ethic. His positive attitude and commitment have made him a valued member of the team.

Cephus began his employment journey through The Arc’s Employment Support program, where he worked closely with his Employment Specialist. With her guidance, he explored his interests, identified his strengths, and found meaningful work that aligned with his skills and goals. Today, Cephus takes great pride in his job and continues to thrive!

James recently celebrated an incredible milestone — 20 years with Publix! 👏 For the past two years, he has been a friendly face at the register, greeting customers with his signature smile and positivity. To mark his 20-year anniversary, he spent the day working in the bakery! We’re so proud of all James has accomplished and thank you to our incredible employment partner, Publix!

Meet Tyree Sanders, our Director of Transition & Employment Services!

Tyree has been at The Arc for 7 years, helping individuals with disabilities build independence, gain meaningful employment, and achieve their goals. “Inclusion for All means creating opportunities where every individual, regardless of ability, is valued, respected, and given the chance to live a meaningful life. It’s about breaking down barriers and making sure people feel they truly belong in every space—at school, at work, and in the community.”

What keeps Tyree motivated? Watching the people we serve reach milestones, land jobs they’re proud of, and grow more independent each day.

Tyree’s message to the community: “The Arc is more than just an organization—it’s a family. We empower, support, and advocate for individuals with disabilities so they can live full, independent lives. Our community is stronger when we embrace inclusion.”

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! This year’s theme, “Celebrating Value and Talent,” reminds us that workplaces are stronger when they include the skills, perspectives, and dedication of people with disabilities.

At The Arc of Central Alabama, our goal is to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) live as independently as possible. Through our Employment Support programs, we provide training, coaching, and job connections that prepare individuals to thrive in the workforce.

Employment is more than a paycheck — it’s purpose, confidence, and community. This month, we’re celebrating achievements, spotlighting employer partners, and sharing the impact of inclusive workplaces. 💜

Meet Jennifer Perkins, our Director of Operations at The Arc’s Blount County campus! Jennifer began her journey at The Arc of Central Alabama in 2007 and has been blessed to know and love the many individuals she has worked alongside over the years—some of whom have been part of her life since day one.

“My favorite part of the job is getting to know the people we serve—their hobbies, favorite things, and everything that makes them who they are. It’s a joy to watch the individuals we serve become an active part of our community and beyond.”

“My heart is full when I arrive at work and hear them yelling my name, eager to say ‘good morning!’ Knowing I’m here to serve them keeps me positive and motivated. This is more than a job; it’s an extension of my family, and I love and treat them as such. What a blessing.” 💛

Meet Jasmeen Davis, Director of Community Waiver Services. For 13 years, Jasmeen has been part of The Arc of Central Alabama, serving in multiple roles that have shaped her growth and leadership journey. Through every role, her commitment has remained the same: ensuring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have the support, opportunities, and inclusion they deserve.

“Inclusion for All means creating environments where every person is valued and given the chance to fully participate in community life.” That belief fuels her dedication each day. Jasmeen is motivated by knowing her work helps improve lives, foster independence, and strengthen our community.

Her favorite event is celebrating DSP Appreciation Week—recognizing the Direct Support Professionals who are the heart of The Arc. If she could share one message with the community, Jasmeen says: “The Arc is more than just an agency—it is a movement. We are committed to breaking down barriers, empowering people with disabilities, and building a community where everyone belongs.”
