Tragedy, trauma, and grief can force us to question everything.
These experiences seem to rob us of a clear sense of self.
But the psyche is always leaning toward wholeness.
The psyche can organically move us from self to Self.

When tragedy, trauma, and grief bring us to our knees in an outcry of "I don't know who I am anymore," these extreme challenges may push us to take the journey from self to Self.

CPTSD and PTSD caused by serious abuse don’t just cause only one way of interacting thereafter. There are several different roles or identities that can ultimately become symptomatic, that a survivor can live that help them survive. In fact, these roles were how they survived. Regardless of how dysfunctional these patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving, believing and acting are they are specific to how to survive the abuse. But what helped them survive might eventually become an albatross around their neck making life even more difficult .

I tire of, and worry about the many ads on social media luring survivors into their net, to pay for services meant to make it all better, after describing one set of symptoms, which if you have these, you should contact them and pay for their services. Not only is this practice nefarious, but it leaves out all those people who have a different set of patterns or symptoms and who need help, but are now less likely to get it because they don’t fit into that specific set of symptoms or patterns. They now think that, because they don’t have that specific set of symptoms or patterns, they don’t really have CPTSD or PTSD.

If you suspect that you might have CPTSD or PTSD, please don’t be confused by these ads. Seek a local therapist who can assess your symptoms and patterns more effectively. If you have a friend or relative who you think might have CPTSD or PTSD, please stop showing them these ads, in an effort to help. They may be lured in and have even more trouble afterwards.

There are many good therapists out there who can help. Your symptoms and/or patterns don’t have to match anyone else’s.
