Danielle Jonas—best known as the wife of musician Kevin Jonas—has opened up about her recent health journey. She revealed that she was diagnosed with Lyme disease after initially being told her symptoms were due to anxiety. Danielle began noticing hair loss and scalp inflammation before a biopsy finally provided answers. Her experience is a powerful reminder to listen to your body and advocate for your health.

“As you will understand watching my Bella struggle in silence, has cut the deepest core of hopelessness inside me.

The invisible disability of chronic neurological Lyme disease is hard to explain or understand for anyone.

I try to lead by example on our Lyme journey but my own pain cannot compare to watching my baby suffer.

After many years I stopped sharing my personal story because I needed an energetic shift, time to focus on my healing rather than absorb other people’s opinions about my journey.

Even so, I am the CEO of my health and after fifteen years of searching the globe, I am still determined to find a cure affordable for all.

Hopefully soon I will share whatever we have learned and the places we have been with you and our Lyme community as soon as lab results reflect our victory.

To my beautiful Bellita:

You are relentless and courageous.
No child is suppose to suffer in their body with an incurable chronic disease.

Study found that alpha-gal syndrome reactions are related to dental products and identified materials and ingredients that could pose risks.

Mast cell activation is see frequently in the Lyme disease (and other tick-borne illnesses) and is amplified post-COVID.

“Mast Cell Activation Syndrome occurs when mast cells become hyperreactive, releasing their powerful mediators too frequently, too abundantly, or in response to triggers that shouldn't normally cause activation. Unlike mastocytosis (a rare condition where there's an abnormal accumulation of mast cells), in MCAS, the number of mast cells is normal—it's their behavior that's problematic.

This dysregulated mast cell activity leads to chronic inflammation and a wide range of symptoms affecting multiple body systems. Because mast cells are located throughout your body, MCAS can manifest in diverse and seemingly unrelated ways, often leading to diagnostic confusion.”

Many patients are suffering from Mast Cell Activation Syndrome—a condition that's gaining recognition but remains poorly understood by healthcare providers..

“Well, as these two incredible years come to an end and I look forward to the future, I wanted to write something from the heart. It’s not an easy task to try to contextualize the whirlwind of touring –– but, I will try…

This has been the most fun, emotional, gratifying, physically demanding, and, at times, grueling experience. I have been doing this for 30+ years (which feels crazy to say) –– and have given all that I have to this. I could not have done it without my family, friends, The TN Kids, and all of YOUR support.

As many of you know, I’m a pretty private person. But as I’m reflecting on the tour and festival tour – I want to tell you a little bit about what’s going on with me.

Among other things, I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease –– which I don’t say so you feel bad for me –– but to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes. If you’ve experienced this disease or know someone who has — then you’re aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically. When I first got the diagnosis I was shocked for sure. But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness. I was faced with a personal decision. Stop touring? Or, keep going and figure it out. I decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling. I’m so glad I kept going.

Not only did I prove my mental tenacity to myself but, I now have so many special moments with all of you that I will never forget. I was reluctant to talk about this because I was always raised to keep something like this to yourself. But I am trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren’t misinterpreted.

Sharing all of this with the hope that we can all find a way to be more connected. I’d like to do my part to help others experiencing this disease too.”
