UABSON alumna Timiya S. Nolan has been elected to the Oncology Nursing Society Board of Directors. The achievement recognizes her innovation, excellence and advocacy in advancing oncology nursing and cancer care. She will begin her three-year term in May.

Today was a great day of service in our community! The Birmingham Black Nurses Association Inc. joined the Bessemer Police Department and Senator Merika Coleman for a fun-filled Grill & Chill, Spring Break Edition! BBNA was one of the sponsors.

The community event for kids featured free food and drinks, as well as games and music 🎶

Honoring Dr. Martha A. Dawson this Women’s History Month ✨

A trailblazer in nursing leadership, Dr. Martha A. Dawson has dedicated her career to advancing health equity, empowering Black nurses, and strengthening communities nationwide. As the Immediate Past President of the National Black Nurses Association, her visionary leadership has left a lasting impact on the organization and the communities it serves.

With over 40 years of experience as a nursing and hospital administrator, Dr. Dawson’s legacy of excellence spans both clinical leadership and systems-level impact. She was also honored as a 2019 inductee of the Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the profession.
Her legacy is a powerful reminder that true leadership is rooted in purpose, advocacy, and uplifting others.

Thank you, Dr. Dawson, for your continued impact, service, and inspiration.
