It was a joy to host fellow professionals in senior living and health care for the January Medical Social Services Organization (MSSO) meeting! Linda Fontana, Community Liaison for Right at Home, shared a fantastic presentation on Ethics and Conflict Resolution, providing continuing education credits for those in attendance. These monthly meetings intentionally provide meaningful content and connection, and we always look forward to catching up with friends in senior living!

Outside, the streets of Birmingham are a bit quieter today, and schools and businesses have hit the "pause" button. But inside the halls of Kirkwood, the coffee is hot, the halls are bustling, and the day is moving right along!

There’s a special kind of peace that comes from knowing you don't have to check the news for delays or wonder if the grocery store is open. While the outside world navigates the ice and cold, our residents are enjoying:

✨ Chef-prepared meals without a trip to the store.
✨ Morning exercise and activities without clearing a windshield.
✨ The best neighbors right down the hall for a chat by the fire.

We are so grateful for our dedicated staff who ensure that for our residents, "snow days" are just another day of comfort, care, and community.

When the winter chill settles over Birmingham, the competition heats up inside Kirkwood!

There is nothing quite like a lively game of Bridge to make a cold afternoon fly by. Our residents are enjoying the best kind of warmth—the kind found in good company and friendly rivalry.

One of the greatest joys of life at Kirkwood is the easy accessibility of friendship. You don't have to brave the cold weather to find a "full house" of companions - a warm fire and a spirited game are always just a few steps away. This morning, members of the Kirkwood staff were honored to attend the First Annual Living the Dream Fellowship Breakfast, hosted by Mayor of Irondale James D. Stewart, Jr., in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

As the City of Irondale's first African American mayor, Mayor Stewart leads with purpose, faith, and a deep commitment to public service inspired by Dr. King. The event offered an opportunity for us to celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr. King's vision for equality with prayer, song, and a word from Mayor Stewart.
