We kicked off Halloween week with a step back in time! 🎬 Our residents had a truly unforgettable experience yesterday at the historic Alabama Theatre, watching the classic 1925 black-and-white silent film, The Phantom of the Opera!

The Alabama Theatre's tradition of showing seasonal films, complete with their magnificent Mighty Wurlitzer organ, creates an atmosphere you just can't find anywhere else. What a fantastic way to enjoy a cinematic masterpiece!

A wonderful afternoon of dining and discovery in Montgomery! 🍽️

We thoroughly enjoyed connecting with guests at the elegant Central restaurant yesterday. Over a delicious meal, we discussed the peace of mind and vibrant lifestyle offered by Kirkwood by the River, including the gorgeous homes in our Cedar Ridge at Kirkwood Independent Living neighborhood.

It was a joy to explore the benefits of life in a Life Plan Community in such a beautiful, historic setting! Thank you to the staff at Central for their hospitality and to all of our guests for joining us!

Did you know? Alabama Symphony Orchestra hosts Coffee Concerts on Fridays at 11:00am. With complimentary refreshments before the show, these concerts offer the magic of the symphony for a powerful morning experience. 🎶 Our residents had a magnificent outing and enjoyed the timeless drama of Beethoven's 5th Symphony!

Yesterday, residents gathered together for the first time in our beautiful new Resident Gardens! We enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, sweet treats, wine, beer, and lively music from a fantastic band.

These gardens are a direct result of the amazing contributions we received in our 45th Anniversary Celebration this year. We are so grateful for the families and organizations that supported this project, which features raised garden beds ready for planting, a stunning pavilion for entertainment, a cozy fire pit, gorgeous landscaping, a lawn area for recreation, and a dedicated garden shed.

We can't wait to see all the green thumbs at work!

Yesterday, our Marketing Director, Sandi Hall, had the pleasure of presenting to a wonderful group at the Kelly Plantation Clubhouse in Destin, FL!

Sandi shared valuable information and education on senior living, discussing the importance of planning and finding the right community. We were also thrilled to introduce the unparalleled lifestyle at Kirkwood, our beautiful Cedar Ridge Cottages, and the many amazing benefits of making Birmingham, AL, your home.

The ideal spot for an engaging game of bridge! Residents soaked in the serene views of the Cahaba River and surrounding woods from our window-lined space on the 120-acre campus. Good company and gorgeous scenery make for a perfect afternoon!

A new season, a new flag! Yesterday, as we welcomed the first day of fall, we came together to honor and retire the American flag that has stood watch over our campus. The ceremony, which included raising a new flag donated by Mary Rogers, was made even more special with opening remarks from Debra Tews, District Unit Commissioner with the Boy Scouts of America, music from Pipe Major Morrison and Jeff Lopez, and participation from Major Don Taylor, Cubmaster Brian Huhtala, and representatives from local scout troops.

In a moving tribute, we carefully retired the old flag, presented the colors, and raised our new one. As we said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang patriotic songs, we were reminded of the deep respect and meaning held in this symbol of our nation. It was a truly memorable ceremony for everyone involved!

There's nothing quite like the vibrant colors of a local market! Our Kirkwood by the River residents enjoyed a lovely outing to Murphree's Market and Garden Center, where they picked out some of the most amazing farm-fresh vegetables and tasty local treats. What a perfect day to enjoy the simple pleasures of life!

This quaint market is located in Cahaba Heights and has been serving the community since 1978. Offering fresh fruits and vegetables, countless flavors of jams and salsas, locally-made baked goods, beautiful flowers and decor, Murphree's is a hub for seasonal inspiration! Can you feel the crispness in the air? Fall is just around the corner!
