Meet Jenny Degnan, PA-C, AT — a dedicated physician assistant and athletic trainer who spent 13 years working with the now-retired Dr. Sam Goldstein and now supports Dr. Lyle Cain, Dr. Jeff Dugas, and Dr. Benton Emblom.

Jenny plays a key role in patient care and leads important American Sports Medicine Institute programs that positively impact our practice — all while balancing life as a an awesome wife and mom.

We’re saddened by the passing of Mark Womack, a longtime leader and respected voice in the Southeastern Conference. His impact on college athletics will be felt for generations. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the entire SEC community.

The SEC mourns the passing of Mark Womack, who served the Southeastern Conference for nearly a half century and played an integral role in its growth and success.

The Alabama Crimson Tide powered past the Vanderbilt Commodores with a 30–14 victory in Tuscaloosa on Saturday!

With the University of West Alabama Tigers on a bye week, our Crimson Tide team doctors were joined by UWA team physicians and ASMI fellows, Dr. Christopher Adams and Dr. Andrew Gailey, who had the opportunity to experience a great day of football and fellowship at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Our Andrews Sports Medicine team was honored to provide event medical coverage for this year’s BHM 26.2, which started and finished at the Hoover Met Sports Complex.

We’re grateful to the Alabama Race Series organizers for trusting Dr. Matthew Beidleman and our sports medicine team to help ensure race participants and spectators stayed healthy throughout the day.

Saturday was a monumental day in Troy, AL!

🏈 First, Troy honored legendary head coach Larry Blakeney for his well-deserved induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

🤝 Dr. Jeff Dugas and our Troy Sports Medicine team enjoyed connecting with our University of South Alabama colleagues — including one of our super-talented former ASMI fellows, Dr. Brad Clay.

🔥 And to top it all off, Troy brought the belt back home, defeating their in-state rival in an OT thriller, 31-24!

Another Shelby County rivalry game is in the books! 🏈

Friday night, the Spain Park Jaguars took home a big win over the Pelham Panthers, 42–7, improving their record to 4–2 on the season. Pelham now sits at 3–4 as both teams push through the second half of the year.

We’re proud to provide medical coverage for both programs — with Dr. Emily Bell Casey serving as team physician for Pelham and Spain Park, and Dr. Chris Garrett as team physician for Spain Park. We’re also honored to work alongside the dedicated sports medicine teams of athletic trainers and physical therapists at both high schools, helping athletes stay healthy and compete at their best.
